Vacuums Prices, Offers And Deals

The first vacuum cleaner was invented over 100 years ago but bore little resemblance to the cleaner of today. As the vacuum cleaner progressed it became more like the models we are used to with a built in beater bar and was known as The Bag-On-A-Stick model.
Back then a vacuum cleaner would have been a luxury item and few homes would have owned one, a far cry from today. Now just about every household has a vacuum cleaner of some description. Because of the huge variety of vacuum cleaners available on today’s market it makes it so much easier to choose one that is perfectly suited to your needs. You can decide what capabilities your vacuum cleaner requires, whether it is for dry dirt, wet cleaning or for both. Whether you would prefer an upright cleaner or a smaller, more compact cylinder cleaner. Many vacuum cleaners are designed for pet owners and include several different attachments which help to lift stubborn pet hair from furniture and carpets with relative ease. Some contain a HEPA filter which is designed to filter dust mites, pollen particles, mould spores and other allergens in the air making it ideal for sufferers of asthma and hay fever. There are also the smaller, handheld vacuum cleaners, referred to by some companies as Dirt Devils and Dust Busters. These won’t replace your upright or cylinder vacuum cleaner but they do make a very useful addition and can be an extremely time saving little device. A few points to take in to account when purchasing a new vacuum cleaner are: 1. COST. A smaller, more compact model doesn’t necessarily mean it will be cheaper, although today’s compact cylinder models can be just as powerful as a larger, upright vacuum cleaner but with the advantage of being lightweight and easier to carry from floor to floor. 2. REQUIREMENTS AND CAPABILITIES. What do you need from your vacuum cleaner? Will it be expected to work hard on a regular basis? Do you have high traffic areas in your home that need regular attention? Do you have pets and young children? Do you suffer from allergies? Do you have lots of stairs in your home? As well as choosing a vacuum cleaner most appropriate for your cleaning requirements it’s also worth thinking about ease of use, time efficiency and making your vacuum work for you rather than the other way around. Basically finding a model that suits your environment, has the appropriate tools for the job and will not be cumbersome and exhausting to use. 3. WET, DRY OR BOTH? Do you want a vacuum cleaner that can offer both wet and dry cleaning or would you prefer to have a separate cleaner for both requirements? A wet vacuum cleaner or deep cleaner does exactly what it says and gets deep in to the carpet, removing ground in dirt and stubborn stains, but can also be used on hard floor surfaces. A dry vacuum will only remove dry dirt particles and hair and should not be used to suck up spillages. 4.BAG OR BAGLESS VACUUM CLEANERS? Naturally both options will require emptying but with the bagless vacuum you won’t be required to buy new bags, however, if the bagless vacuum is filter based you will have to keep a regular check on the filter and wash when needed to help the vacuum maintain it’s performance. Bagless vacuum cleaners are becoming increasingly popular but always check the vacuum’s dirt bin storage capacity as these can vary from between 1.5 litres to over 4 litres. 5.WATTAGE. With any vacuum cleaner it is a good idea to check the wattage. The higher the wattage the more powerful the suction, so if you opt for a model with between 1800w and 2000w you know you will have a pretty powerful piece of equipment. 6.CORD AND HOSE LENGTH. Cord and hose lengths can vary considerably from model to model so, before making your purchase, take in to account where the electric sockets are in your home, how much cord you will need to get from room to room and whether you would find it of more benefit to be able to clean an entire floor without having to unplug half way through. The same goes for the hose length, is it adequate for those hard to reach areas, under the beds and especially the stairs? 7. SPACE AND STORAGE. When looking to purchase a new vacuum cleaner it’s worth bearing in mind where it will be kept in your home. Do you have ample storage space or would a compact model be more suitable?

Best Cylinder Vacuums

Cylinder vacuums are ideal for those homes with little storage, both wooden and carpeted floors and stairs. Their lightweight design makes them perfect for carrying up flights of stairs and they are gentle to wooden floors. Prices start from as little as just £30, and then come with variety of accessory tools. This type of vacuum is also particularly good for elderly people or those with troublesome backs as they are easily portable, have foot controls and an automatic retractable cord.

Best Upright Vacuums

Upright vacuums are great for carpet cleaning, especially large areas due to its larger cleaning head with multiple brushes. There is usually a carpet height adjuster on upright vacuums, which alters the distance between the carpet and brush head depending on the height of the carpet. You can choose between a bagless vacuum or bagged of which the bagless variety tend to be slightly more expensive due to the technology used, but this is saved by not needing to buy bags. The type of filtration of a vaccum is worth noting too. Standard filtration or micro-filtration are the typical types you will find, but there high filtration vacuums on the market which are more suitable for those with Asthma or allergies.
