The best Freesat recorder

Had mine for over 2 years. Got it when I quit $ky and have never looked back. iPlayer and ITV Player have been a great addition. HD Picture is great and the upscaled SD looks good as well. Sorry to here about the problems that the other reviewer has had but I have not see this at all. It is very easy to use. Only critisism is the poor remote. Get a Harmony 300 for £18 from Play dot com and all is well.

Poor rliability lets down nice machine

I have owned this for over a year having been very pleased with my previous Humax Freeview PVR. First things first, the box is incredibly easy to set up and get working, recording programs either from the EPG or simply pressing the record button works well as does the pausing live TV. The picture quality in HD is fantastic and for good for standard definition Freesat channels. It is lacking some feature like PIP and is slow to boot up. It worked well for about 12 months apart from the ''locking up'' which occurred on a fairly regular basis - and Humax must know about this as there is an option on their customer care line dedicated to this. It is remedied either by removing the batteries from the remote and discharging any residual charge or unplugging and plugging back in. However after about 10 months this became quite regular and after a while it would not restart unless it was turned on and off several times. Humax were pretty good and replaced it with a reconditioned one as it was out of warranty, however the hard drive in this did not function properly - would not always record, would not pause live TV when it did record the recording either would not play all the way through or lost the picture. I am giving up with Humax and buying the more expensive Panasonic PVR with built in Blu Ray recorder. My experience is very disappointing and would not buy another one.
