After having owned a brilliant and very expensive HD Ready (but 1080i) Philips LCD TV 37 inch for 3 years - I, as an online Xbox 360 Gamer, could no longer bear the omission of HDMI as a standard feature; I constantly grieved at the lack of opitmal graphics I could and should of been receiving. I have always felt technologically denied with DVI feature on the Philips and I vowed to have a 1080 progessive resolution and not the oh so slightly inferior 1080 interlace res. I had paid £1700 for my philips and was indeed very financailly reluctant to buy a new one. Until that is; I saw the Samsung 40 inch B530 retailing at a small snip of a price for just a mere £499. Very easy to buy and very easy to set up, I reckon. Also it was surprisingly light to carry and handle. I was told it had 48 freeview channels - but have not found any clue as yet to it''s selective whereabouts on the remote control. I am beginning to think there may be more chance of finding Lord Lucan moonlighting as Father Christmas in some Departmental store. And there is no mention of it whatsoever in the simple, basic and very general handbook/instructions. So I think I was misled by the Comet Salesman. (no change there then, I hear you say!) Having said that, it seems to be fantastic value and the picture quality is amazing - even by today''s standards. The sound quality is also more than adequate for any sized living room and so there is no complaints there from me. And believe you me, I am a critic! At the time of writing this review, it is now Boxing Day and this model has been reduced considerably in the sales. (Boo Hoo!) Anyone got a hanky?
