I should start by saying that I am no TV aficionado and don''''t go into minute and intricate detail - what I judge a TV on is when it''''s sat in your living room and you''''re watching the kind of thing that you watch most. And this is where the 32LH5000 scores very highly. When looking at the various TVs available in the store, it was clear to see that the picture on this TV was noticeably sharper and clearer than many of the TVs round it, some of which were considerably more expensive. It really is a joy to watch, with excellent detail and a very clear picture. HD performance is breathtaking, and as long as you''''re sat a sensible distance away (as with any LCD TV), SD is good too.
The sound is better than what I was expecting - reading many reviews online you almost get the impression that the sound from LCD TV's is worse than those tinny transistor radios you used to get when you were a kid! The reality is much better - whilst you''''re not going to get booming, rich, glorious tones, what you do get is perfeectly fine for most situations.
And if you want to pep it up a bit then you can plug it into your hifi, or a home cinema audio system. There are a lot of connections - 4xHDMI, PC input (with audio), 2xSCART to name a few. I read one review of this TV which complained that there was no switch to turn the power off (rather than put it into standby) - I can confirm that there *IS* an on/off switch on the lower right of the front of the TV, just behind the front surround. Lot''''s of customisation options are available if you choose to delve into that aspect of things but most of the time, it performs pretty darn well on default settings. It also has 100Hz technology which can be set to High, Low or Off - I''''ve not played with this extensively yet so can''''t really comment on just how useful or effective it is, but to get 100Hz on a TV at this price is impressive. Overall I''''m very happy with this TV.
Is it the very best out there? Probably not, but for most people this TV provides fantastic quality viewing at a very good price.
