A review of the Panasonic TX37LZD81 Full HD Freesat LCD TV
|
The Panasonic TX37LZD81 LCD TV has a great design with a sleek black finish to a sharp and elegant frame. The frame is quite wide which is unusual on a widescreen today, but it adds an air of individuality. The stand is solid and stable, however it is not as elegant as some of the LG LCD's for example, rather than having a slender pedestal it has more of a wide chunky look to it. The speaker is located at the bottom of the screen within the top of the stand base.

Panasonic have pulled out all the stops with this impressive offering with many high specifications to meet today's competition. Panasonic are including integrated Freesat with all of their new TV's along with Freeview, however this service does require a satellite. Freesat is a great new addition to a TV as it offers 80 subscription free channels including all the usual ones, BBC, ITV, CH4 etc and also has BBC HD and ITV HD which are exclusive to Freesat. These channels can be displayed in full glory with the Full HD 1080p resolution on board while 24fps Real Cinema Support ensures films get great attention with reduced judder. A V-Real 3 Pro processing engine offers backlight blinking to ensure resolution across the screen, motion detection, optimises final image quality with panel performance and signal. There are 3 HDMI v1.3's on board, SD Card slot, Photo Viewer and Easy On-Screen Guide.

We could immediately see the stunning effects of the Panasonic TX37LZD81 V Real 3 Pro processing engine, with such smooth movements and judder free action on fast moving scenes. We have seen such results on a widescreen with 100Hz processing but not quite as impressive as this as to complete the perfection there was also absolute minimal noise whilst still retaining high levels of sharpness and vibrancy. Class. Sound is also great with fantastic power and depth to every sound be it dialogue or music. The only very slight downside we were able to hunt down, was the black levels. These were good, but slightly off in certain scenes. Nothing really to complain about but definitely could do with a bit of work from Panasonic.

We loved the Panasonic TX37LZD81 as it delivered a great performance with very little, if anything, to moan about. Set-up was simple, it looks great and performs superbly. Freesat is a great addition that we think should be built-in to all new TV's today and best of all its a free service and doesn't affect the price of the set.
