Hi we bought this LCD Tv 8 days ago from Comet, great we thought as our old telly had decided to give up the ghost after 8 years. We got the Tv home and connected it up to Sky and our DVD recorder, everything was great or so we thought. Our 2 small children sat down to watch Cartoon network then the screen went black for a few seconds then when the picture came back the colours were all mixed on the screen, this lasted for a few seconds before it righted itself but as the night went on it started to happen every 10 seconds or so. I called the Comet helpline and after waiting for what seemed like an eternity I got through to someone who listened to me for a short time then told me it sounded like a Sky problem, basically they were trying to pass the buck, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and called Sky, I told the person their the same problem and give them there dues they spent a lot more time asking me to try various things but still the problem persisted. Unhappy with it all we turned the Tv off hopeing it would rectify itself by the next day, needless to say it didn''t and so I found myself calling Comet again, I spoke to a pleasant guy who connected me through to his supervisor and after explaining the problem to her she advised me that she would arrange for an engineer to come out. this duly happened and after he tried various things he advised me that the signal strength on Sky was a bit low and i should put Sky off for the rest of the day and leave it on freeview and see if the problem persisted, it didn''t, and the next day when I put Sky back on the same thing happened again. I decided to cut my losses and got a Sky engineer out closely followed by an aerial engineer both of whom checked everything thoroughly including the Sky box and the aerial and informed me that everything was fine and there was nothing wrong with my Sky signal, they were both of the opinion that the problem lies with the Tv and most likely the scart connectors at the back, the Sky engineer even connected my portable telly up and watched it for some time to see if there was any disturbance in the picture,which ofcourse there wasn''t, so after reports from both I called Comet back to see what my options were, I asked if I could return my Tv for either a refund or an exchange, neither I was informed, the guy I spoke to advised me that there policy is to send out another engineer to check it out again and if it is unrepairable they will issue me with a full refund, I called them on the 30/07/09 and was told i would have to wait till 04/08/09 for the engineer to call. We wait with baited breath to hear what flannel the engineer is going to give us this time. Overall the Tv is great, the size,design,weight and ease of controls is very good if only it would work properly. Watch this space.
