Pioneer KRL-37V 1080p LCD TV

Pioneer are ruling the world of Plasma, but now they are venturing in to the world of LCD tvs with the KRL-37V that is looking very promising indeed.
The design of the Pioneer KRL-37V LCD TV is very stylish and modern with a slightly different twist sporting a cool gunmetal grey finish rather than the common, but equally stylish, black. The build is solid and very sturdy and looks strong without even holding it. The frame is sharp and bold and the swivel stand provides flexibility over viewing angles. This TV has been built and finished to a very high standard and oozes quality.
Features
Pioneer include some extremely useful and high performance features on its Plasma range and they haven't slipped up and missed them out on the LCD range either. With features such as a high contrast front filter (used on Pioneer's Plasma's) which enhances colour, contrast and shadow detailing, 100Hz processing, enhanced black levels, ambient light sensor, Kuro Link, Colour Temperature Adjustment, Noise reduction, PureCinema and 3 dimensional sound with SRS TruSurroundXT. Connectivity is also good with 3 HDMI's, optical digital audio output, a D-Sub PC Port and 2 Euro SCARTs.
Performance
We had high expectations of the new LCD from Pioneer, especially with the high standard the Plasma range has set. And we must say that we were suitably impressed. Black levels were our first choice of assessment (obviously!) and although good, were not as good as the Plasma range. Compared to some of the rival models from Sony and Samsung for example, Pioneer come very close but with slight grey shading on scenes, falls behind some of the best. However, colour was displayed well and showed vibrancy and clarity as well as very bright and detailed scenes. We did notice some slight motion blur on faster moving scenes but nothing that would ruin a viewing. Full HD images were outstanding as were Standard Definition with excellent sharpness and colour reproduction.
Overall Opinion
We were extremely impressed with Pioneer's LCD offering and as explained many of the features assist in producing some spectacular images with great sharpness and detail.
