Hmmmmmmmm - can''t connect to an external Audio Device
A fairly good little unit this. However - a little caution to you wannabe owners.
You know the way we like to plug the audio output from our TVs into a little sound system, so we can use the full effects of the Nicam stereo, or just up the volume a little? Well, the manual for this unit says you can do just that, and therefore you''d expect either an earphone jack or the red/white AUX jacks to be there to make this connectivity possible. But no. All there is is a single red socket. And that does not even fit the standard connectors anyway. So it''s basically impossible to divert the audio to an external device.
With this in mind, I emailed the makers - ALBA - to see if I needed a different jack, or if my model was indeed fitted with the wrong socket. Silence. Bit like trying to plug the TV into my micro system. Goodman''s/ALBA''s Customer Support Dept is a bit badly named. They don''t support customers, in fact they don''t even reply to us! I suppose it''s one way of guaranteeing Zero Customer complaints. Ignore them all.
But now you know. Think twice before trying one of these, or at least ask the people in the shop first to show you exactly how to connect to an external audio device. If you do discover how it''s done, please let me know.
Otherwise, altho the picture is a bit small (well it is only 15"), it''s not a bad unit, and (apart from the issue above), is pretty good value for money (I paid £150 for mine)
