Hoover VHD862 Washing Machine

This washer worked great for many months. We had originally purchased a Hotpoint machine and sent it back as it kept tearing clothes. One evening the washer was on my husband and the dogs had just walked through the kitchen when there was an almighty explosion. The Glass on the washer door had exploded senting shards of glass across the room whch could have seriously injured someone. The drum had unravelled and all the clothes inside were either torn or stained with oil. The washer was outside its 12mth warranty and so we had to claim from our contents insurance, that was in March 2010. We replaced it with the same washer. Yesterday Jan 2011 there was a smell of burning from the kitchen but we wouln''t pinpoint it. Later the washer was of, showing no power to it when it was full of washing and half full with water. the plug had melted into the socket. We cut the old plug off and replaced it. You guessed it the washer is not working. I have tonight phoned our insurance and they were unsure if we were covered for this!
