Sony Cybershot W90 - A little cracker.

Most ultra compact cameras are painfully slow. They seem to fail to understand that you want them to take a picture at the instant you press the button. I have a three year old grand-daughter and have taken endless pictures of the position she once occupied. I was determined not to get caught out again so I checked the shutter lag times of various models. In the process I upgraded from a 4 meapixel Olympus Mju to 8 megapixels. The W 90 is FAST. The controls are simple and easy to see since they appear in the viewfinder - an imortant feature for those with poor close up vision. The shutter response in daylight is instantaneous. My grand-daughter can no longer evade being captured. Even with flash shutter lag is acceptable. Picture quality is excellent under 400 ISO rating but noisy over that level. The lens is crisp at all focal lengths. Colours are saturated without being garish. For the price this camera is hard to beat.

ProsCons
It takes pictures when I want it to - not some time later.Battery life is acceptable but not exceptional.
