Great camera Samsung Digimax D53

I bought the Digimax D53 about 4 years ago & its been the best camera for all my needs so far. It takes great pics & pretty good video clips with audio too. I''''''''m an amateur photographer & along with some photo editing software I''''''''ve turned out some awesome pics. I dont know what all the complaints that I''''''''ve read are about maybe I just got lucky, but I doubt it. I''''''''ve always used rechargable batteries with mine so that definatly keeps more money in my pocket. I use 2500 mah rated Ni-Mh batteries.

Best Christmas Present Ever

I recieved this camers as a present for christmas about 3years ago after the birth of our little girl.I was so excited, my first digital camera. I started reading the manual asap and it didnt take long and I knew all about this camera.I showed everyone all the cool features that it could do and I even went and took pictures of my friends kids(who had digital cameras)but liked the quality of my camera better.I was so pleased with this camera and now after countless amounts of pictures it has started to become blurred. I am almost heartbroken over this camera and am now tring to find me a new one.I have used this camera everyday (no lie)ever since I got it and hove been so lost without it.

PIECE OF GARBAGE!

I BOUGHT MY SAMSUNG DISIMAZ D53 ON BLACK FRIDAY 2006...I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS! IT EATS UP BATTERY LIFE WITHIN A FEW PICTURES. I HAD TO BUY THE RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES AND NOW IT ONLY TAKES ABOUT 25 PICS BEFORE KILLING THE BATTERIES. THE LENSE ALWAYS GETS MESSED UP! ONE DAY I TOOK OUT MY CAMERA OUT OF THE CASE AND MY SCREEN IS HALF BLACK! I CAN''T SEE THE PICTURES UNTIL I UPLOAD THEM ONTO THE COMPUTER. I DONT THINK IT HAS TO DO WITH THE COMPANY I JUST THIS THIS WAS A POORLY MADE CAMERA. MY BROTHER HAS THE SAMSUNG L200 WHICH IS A 10.2 MP AND IT IS A AWESOME CAMERA. IM BUYING ONE THIS YEAR! I DONT RECOMMEND THIS CAMERA TO ANYONE!

Why the complaints?

I use several digital cameras, and for a pocket-size job this camera is fantastic on quality and functionality. I have to say that most people are moaning about batteries. as with any camera BUY DECENT ONES. I recommend either Lithium batteries or NiMH rechargeables at LEAST 2000mAh and make sure you set the camera software to take NiMH for either type i just mentioned. A cracking piece of kit for a cracking price. Did you also know that Pentax makes all the lenses for all Samsung cameras? Hence quality :)
ProsCons
Price Quality Functionality Lightweight Screen Size Battery Stamina Ease Of UseOnly bad thing is lack of support from samsung - but this is not really an issue as if you have a problem your 12 month guarantee should be honoured by the RETAILER hence cutting out the manufacturer. It also may be a little bland on the style front but hey for this price who cares?

Pain in my @ss!!!

This was my very first digital camera. I bought it a few Christmas'' ago and I''m not in the least bit impressed. No matter what batteries you buy for it it eats them within 3 pictures. Then the camera beeps at you wildly and shuts down...sometime pulling in the lense, sometimes not. The picture quality is just okay. I didn''t expect the best for $100 but this camera is just a joke...I won''t buy anything with the samsung name on it again.

ProsCons
Fairly straight forward to operateEats batteries Poor Zoom quality Picture quality just okay

Samsumg d73 - turning off

had the exact same problem the camera was not working. when you turn it on it beeps and immediately turns itself off but the zoom lens does not go back in. initially i touht it may be some sort of child saftey lock , gone wrong I took out the memory card, charged the batteries, I used hih powered alkalines, but nothing. Then I noticed the lens was crooked as if it was stuck.I pulled it out and I heard it click into place, only a slight tug and hey presto, turned power .fixed !!!! lense track out of align ment,, kids where playing with camera ... Anyway Fantasic camera and excelletnt video quality

Avoid This Camera

Like others I have been much disappointed by this camera. I sent it in for warranty repair (which is costly when you consider the shipping cost and the S/H fee of the repair shop that Samsung uses) and they made a repair to the lens mechanism. It helped for a while, but now it is again defective. Apparently there is some sort of flaw with the lens "motor" that results in the camera eating up batteries and shutting down. I am trying to get Samsung to make things right, but you know how that can go.

Good Buy

I use Lithium batteries and only had to change the batteries twice and I've had the camera for well over a year now. I also like the editing feature and the ability to change color schemes too.

Worst Camera Ever

If you are think of buying this camera DON''T. I got the camera for a Christmas gift and its not reliable. You put new batteries in and it still does not work. You try to take a picture the screen goes black and it shuts off. Then you try to get it to shut off and it gives you a hard time. Then when you turn it on it shows the battery bar full which it showed low a second ago. It is a waste of money. My brother has a Sony camera and it is excellent it takes great pictures. Next time I get a camera i''m going with Sony. I hope this review is helpful and will safe people from the buying this and having trouble.

Samsung Digimax D53 worst camera I ever bought!!

I bought this camera for my husband for Christmas 2006.It has given him a hole lot of trouble. The camera shuts off and won''t turn back on without changing batteries and even then it has a very low battery power stay ability. Can''t use regular batteries for any more than 10 to 20 pictures. I used new rechargeable ones and only got maybe 50 pics with some review and deleting. My camera can use the same batteries, I get 250 pictures with LCD screen running and deleting and adjusting with no problems. I definitely want my money back. This is a terrible camera.
ProsCons
Can't think of anything.Low battery usage

My best Christmas present

My wife gave me a SamsungD53 Digimax, and it is really great. With a large viewing screen and easily readable controls, it takes great pictures, instantly re-viewable, and small enough to keep in the pocket for immediate use.

Samsung Digimax D53

Pro: Great compact digital camera for the price. Features and zoom work well. Picture quality is very good. Con: The batteries 'do' wear out quickly. Be sure to keep a couple extra sets on hand!
ProsCons
Photo quality; Features; Zoom is good for a small camera; 1 MP to 5MP option; Low shutter lag; Low next-shot delay; Has manual controlsBattery life is low. Have an extra set on hand (or two) if shooting for a day.
