Sony KDL-32S2030 Television

I have just purchsed the Sony KDL-32S2030 Television and I am altogether quite pleased with it. I found the instructions on startup a little confusing as being in a hurry to see this monster in all its full glory I just switched it on, saw the setup menue, selected English and proceeded to autotune my stations. It was only after this process that I read one needed the VCR playing a pre recorded tape at the same time so that the set could tune in a VCR channel. This then took an age to undo what I had done. After some prolonged reading I discovered that it was in fact quite easy to repeat the whole process all over again. My second problem was that my current Alba DVD player would not give me anything other than a green picture when connected via my Sony scart lead. I reboxed the TV took it back to Comet and showed them the problem there and then in the shop. Without going into too much debate it turned out that my DVD player was somehow not compatible with this Sony model.
ProsCons
Picture quality. Styling and ease of lead configuration. HDMI socket.Compatibility of existing DVD player. Instruction manual not easy.

Sony KDL-32S2030

This is a good looking TV out the box, clean lines & slim. The off air picture is very good via the digital tuner, bright, colourful, with good blacks. The screen does struggle a little with murky scenes though & some smearing is visible up close. But if you're getting a good broadcast with a decent bit rate its fine. I'm running my DVD with progressive scan at 480p via component & the picture again is very good, blacks could be blacker but the picture is clean & flicker free with very good colour, good panning in fast scenes too.. Pictures from RGB (scart) sources are not that great - Skybox, Xbox - suffering from allot of digital noise, I'm experimenting with leads to try & improve this but this is the weakest link regards the picture performance. Sound is adequate, but this TV deserves a surround sound package. All in all its a good purchase, it looks great, its easy to use, great picture with so so sound. a good TV provided your main means of connection is not via scart. Check out the Sony KDL32EX301
