how good does it get

i bought this fuji finepix 6500 in oct 07 .I used to have kodak digital with 4.5 meg and 10 optical and was very pleased. However I have been intrested in photography for more years than i care to count and as I have retired I wanted to try my hand at RAW digital processing using various programmes. This Fuji is superb! The quality of build is good and feels sturdy.Because the lense range is from 28mm to 300mm there is no risk of dust getting in and macro is down to 0.4in!.I was a bit worried about battery life but the first set that came with camera lasted about one month,I now use Ni-Mih recharges and have no problems, take a spare set just in case.for the money £149 you cannot get better value than this and the results are stunning, also good software comes with camera that includes raw processing.Go Buy one
ProsCons
rapid shot rate on AA batteries with refresh very fast.not found one yet

Fuji FinePix S6500 DSLR review

Design
It’s a rather large SLR and if we’re totally honest, a bit bland looking. We know there’s not much you can do with a body that has an enormous lens at the front protruding like a rhino’s horn but maybe a bit of tinsel might have given it even a touch of glamour. Anyway the S6500fd has a chunky black chassis with a 2.5 inch LCD screen at the back. There’s a decently sized hand grip on the right which gives you enough room to be able to hold the camera in just one hand should you want. And the shot button has been placed conveniently just above the hand grip. Like most DSLRs the FinePix S6500fd comes with a view finder at the back and buttons to operate the system.
Setup/Installation
Like most cameras you need to have a bit of a play around and then the camera is fairly self explanatory.
Features
As we’ve already mentioned the most impressive feature is the Face Detection technology that allows this digital SLR camera to recognise faces and optimise settings to get the best photograph in just 0.04 seconds. It comes with Fujifilm's acclaimed sixth generation, six megapixel Super CCD sensor and Real Photo Technology II. Fujifilm's Real Photo Processor II technology is very hand and delivers ISO of 100 up to 3200 sensitivity. And as most pictures are taken in low lighting this is ideal, and the high ISO of the FinePix S6500fd means that sharp, focused images in low light without the need for a flash. The FinePix S6500fd comes with a Fujinon 10.7x optical zoom lens with twist barrel control to give plenty of scope for precision composition. The fact the lens is fixed also means that none of those pesky particles of dust will get in and connect around the sensor. For those who need to take photos with a flash, the F6500fd comes with an Intelligent Flash system, which automatically balances flash power output and exposure for both foreground and background. There’s also a 'Natural Light & Flash' Dual Shot Mode which takes two pictures in quick succession, one with flash and one without so you can then compare, contrast and decide which you fancy. You get a High Speed Shooting Mode with rapid focus and a shutter lag of just 0.035 seconds and fourteen special-scene modes, including Portrait, Sport, and Fireworks to name a few. The Fuji SLR also allows movie shooting with a 30 fps VGA movie mode with sound and manual zoom.
Performance
We’re still waiting to have a thorough test of the product so we’re holding off on our opinion on how the Fuji SLR actually works. But as soon as we’ve given it a through testing we’ll let you know. In the mean time it doesn’t look too bad from where we standing.
What's In The Box?
Fuji FinePix S6500 SLR, battery, charger, manual, software.
Overall Opinion
On the whole the digital camera isn’t going to win any sexy-model-of-the-year awards, but seems like a fine device for enthusiasts who have progressed from a simple point-and-shoot camera and what to start doing something more adventurous.
ProsCons
Feels good Sterdy Good features Face detection No Anti-shake
