A reasonable workhorse
I''ve had this for 3 months now and use it with the RGB input and freeview box, its own analogue tuner (with Video+), and the composite input on the input SCART for transcribing my old family videos. I don''t have DV.
It takes a few seconds to boot. The SCART loopthrough facility (read the manual!) allows you to put the unit into standby without losing picture from the SCART device.
Ther''s no transcoding between recording qualities, but there are built-in facilities to split, merge, hide chapters, etc. (I have managed to create one DVD that nothing else will play, citing "navigation error".)
It automatically inserts chapter marks at a configurable interval; you can delete or add them. The DVD record format on DVD+RW is DVD-VR, which some DVD players will not auto-play - you may have to go into the player Title menu and find the items to play.
Mine will now not play a couple of commercial DVDs, so will be going back for exchange when I''ve offloaded my recordings.
| Pros | Cons |
| Quieter than my VCR and so much easier to use.
RGB SCART input and output.
| To erase a recording you must choose Contents, navigate to the correct page(latest is last!), select, Edit, Erase, confirm - safe but long-winded. |
