Sagem Axium Hd D50H G4 50 in
First of all, keep in mind that this is a rear-projection TV.
Now, many of us think that rear-projection is pretty outdated and that LCD will beat DLP (which is the technology that rear-projection TVs use) any day.
Now while it may be true that DLP is ''old'' technology, it is by no means dead.
This TV is HD-ready (which means it supports up to 720p AND 1080i, but not 1080p). It is not as thin as LCDs and since it uses a system of mirrors, you can''t easily fix this to the wall (though modern DLPs are very thin now).
Another advantage is that due to the technology, you don''t see individual pixels. You simply don''t. The picture quality is excellent with lots of customization options such as contrast, brightness, eco-mode, color temperature and balance and such. It has a beautiful (and very thin) piano-black frame and it sits on top of the built-in subwoofer. Audio-wise you get virtual Dolby-surround (which works reasonably nice) through the 2 side speakers. Sound is pretty good, though of course you can''t compare it running through your home HiFi system.
The TV has loads of inputs, most notably 2 HDMI inputs (careful, only the G4 versions have HDMI), Scart, component and so on.
Being DLP it takes a few seconds to warm up when you switch it on but after a minute it''s perfectly fine.
So, in a nutshell...
What I like:
-it''s very light (lighter than any LCD)
-it looks beautiful with the thin frame
-picture quality is very good
-it''s huge (50" rocks)
-it has lots of inputs (auto-switching depending on source)
-very reasonable price
-bulb life (easily >3 years with 16hrs+ per day!
| Pros | Cons |
| All in all, I would recommend this TV without reservations. | What I don''t like:
-viewing angle is rather small (if you look from the side the picture hard to see)
-it''s not Full-HD (though the difference isn''t really all that huge. |
