LG 32LC2D in. HDTV LCD Television

Design
Who said you can’t get style and design on a budget TV set?
The LG 32LC2D comes in a very cool matte-black finish that will blend perfectly into your living room. The TV set has a large silver grey panel at the bottom to house the perfectly acceptable speakers. The unit comes with a self-assembly silver/grey stand very easy to put together, but if you prefer to hang the unit on the wall, don’t worry, wall-mounting options are available.
The unit weighs 25.5 Kg (with packaging) and measures 811 (w) x 235 (D) x 566.9 (H) mm (without the stand).
On the back you will find a good selection of connections that will satisfy all your needs: two SCART input sockets and a SCART out socket that will allow you to record to a video or DVD recorder, progressive-scan compatible component inputs, PC Audio Input and a vital HDMI digital input. If you want to connect more that one HD source (PS3, HD-DVD player, Sky HD box) you will have to swap the connections around manually or buy a HDMI switch box.
The guys at LG have designed the LG 32LC2D to have easy access to the connectors on the back even with the unit hanging on the wall.
On the right side of the unit there are 8 control buttons so you can access basic functions without the need to use the 64 key remote control.
Setup/Installation
Installation?
What installation?
Just get the unit out of the box, plug it in and follow the easy on-screen instructions. It should take no more than 5 minutes to have the TV up and running. If you are going to connect external sources like video players, DVD players, etc… we recommend you to plug them in before the initial tuning, otherwise you will have to tune them manually.
Features
LG has worked hard to make sure that the LG 32LC2D LCD TV satisfies the needs of most users and the proof is in its long list of features. We will start with the new XD Engine processing system, which is a six-step application designed to boost image clarity, colour saturations/tone, contrast, brightness, colour gradation/greyscaling and frame rate handling when watching movies. We have to say that this feature really does make a difference on the picture quality.
Another cool feature of the LG 32LC2D is PIP, which will allow you to watch 2 channels at the same time (split screen).
The display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixel and a brightness of 500cd/m2 with a contrast ratio of 1600:1 and aspect ratio of 16:9.
The unit comes with a digital tuner and a Digital Freeview built in with a full eight day programming guide, which means that you can set your favorite programmes to be recorded well in advance so you don’t miss that very important episode of Eastenders.
The Universal remote does the job very nicely, although it’s a bit on the bulky side.
Performance
The performance of the LG 32LC2D is outstanding.
The picture quality is excellent for the price. This little gem provides very sharp images, great depth of field and impressive black levels.
You can configure the LG XD Engine settings to obtain even better detail in the picture, as well as the settings for skin tones and black levels.
It’s also worth mentioning the impressive colour palette that the display offers.
The on screen menus are very easy to use and will allow you to adjust the preset sound and picture modes and also save your own settings.
Sound options are incredibly versatile. You can switch between different preset modes, including a very cool SRS TruSurroundXT mode.
Overall Opinion
The LG 32LC2D is one of the best budget HD Ready TV's out there. It’s cheap, stylish and the picture quality is great for the price, so you have no excuse to keep using that TV that you got from your parents 10 years ago!  Quality at an affordable price, we like it. (Who doesn’t?)
