LD6600 OK for a while

OK this is an old TV now, but you can still buy them online and are now very very cheap. We got the 32" variant in June 2007 for around £500, and the sound stopped working within a week. Took it back and swapped for another one (Argos) and this is the TV we have had ever since. The picture has never been brilliant in SD, though in HD is pretty good. The sound quality is accepable but as the case with many slim flat panel TVs not brilliant. It tends to distort at anything above normal volume. Its been pretty much the same until a couple of months back, just out of warranty, the sound kept switching to mono and loosing volume the only cure to turn off the power and back on. Then loads of pixels "died" along the top of the panel, and lines appeared down the screen that looked like water damage! Very soon to be replaced with a Panasonic Plasma TV. For some reason it doesn''t auto switch to an HDMI source, you have to do it manually, and when watching a 4:3 image not stretched to fill the screen (via a scart connection) the bars down each side are not black but an irritating shade of grey....
ProsCons
Looks OK User menu easySound quality Lack of HDMI switching Grey Bars

Hitachi LD6600 is a let down

I have had this TV (well the 26 inch version) for a year and a half and now and I too have no picture or sound! what a wase of £400!! As a remedy I have decided to scrap it and buy a Panasonic Viera 37 inch Plasma instead - the only advice I can give is buy Hitachi... buy twice! On the other hand, the Panasonic is well worth the extra money - great picture and sound, 5 years warranty and it is tipped to be one of the best TV''''s around - buy this instead!

Junk, bad mainboard, hdmi audio does not work.

This television is a total flop and worse, hitachi admits there is a problem but they do not have a workaround. They also appologized for this. I am still out 1200 pounds and my television after the second one month visit to the repair shop has a corrupt picture again. Do not buy until hitachi themselves confirm that there is a work around for the hdmi/audio/ picture corruption issues.
ProsCons
nonecustomer service, technical quality, reliability, picture quality, various inputs fail from scart one to hdmi.

Avoid this TV

I had the same problems with the TV, in that when the scarts were plugged in, the TV wont switch on. I took it back to Comet and got a replacement, thinking the TV was faulty. Needless to say the new TV was just the same. I got an engineer out and he told me it is a very common problem, and he gave me a returns slip to get my money back. The picture quality is very poor, my recomendation is to avoid

The same old problem! no picture

Needless to say Curry would not entertain a refund, so have gone through the usual performance of sending it to mastercare, it has now been back less than two days and it has the same fault, where the picture has disappeared. Thanks to the previous poster I have now disconnected all Scart connections and am just using HDMI. lets see if this works. Why did I buy this??????????

Good TV but not faultless

I've owned this TV for nearly a year. Overall it has been a good buy. When properly adjusted the TV picture is very good - the factory settings have too much contrast!! I have had two problems: 1) In Cinema mode, you can hear a buzzing noise from the TV. As I keep the TV in dynamic mode, this hasn't proved to be a problem. 2) The TV stopped working and I had to get Curry's engineers out to fix. The problem is that Scart 1 is used to update the firmware, and if you attach a digital box (cable, freeview, satellite) to this scart, it can send a signal to the TV that is interpreted as an update. The end resiult is that you lose picture & sound. The engineer was able to fix using the TV remote. I have avoided the problem happening since by turing the Scart AV control off in my cable box.
ProsCons
- good price (£1100 in late 2005) - good picture when adjusted correctly- need to be careful with Scart 1 connection as this can cause loss of picture & sound!! - buzz on cinema mode

Do not buy Hitachi 37ld6600

Along with all the other reviews on the net of this product , had mine running for less than 2 weeks and now no picutre. Was a bargain at £800 now i know why. The cause is simple, there is no metal chassis with the strength to hold all the componenets together. The power supply looks very shoddy and am convinced this is where the fault lies. Will be looking at getting a refund off the retailer and getting some other make!
ProsCons
price and hdtv picturereliability, useless teletext, switches to tuner when you want cable hdmi input

Hitachi 37LD6600 Dumb Blonde TV

No show stopping problems but this lcd TV is very clunky and uninspiring. Input selection is slow and defaults to TV even though no TV signal is received. Unable to control TV fully using Sky remote but from email correspondence Hitachi is not interested in getting their control codes registered with Sky. In fact plethora of Hitachi control codes reveals lack of design consistency. I have been unable to get Media PC screen to be fully displayed in HDMI mode (720i) with icons masked at edges of screen and I cannot concurrently display the 720i resolution at the PC input. Overall picture quality is OK, pity about the lack of intelligence.

ProsCons
Minimilist profile Picture OKLack of Sky compatible codes Slow input switching Poor defaults Unable to display PC screen via HDMI input

DO NOT BUY!!! READ THE REVIEWS.

Purchased from Currys for £1499 on 31st December 2005. TV looks lovely. Went wrong within weeks - convergence errors (pixelating in different colours). Replaced by Mastercare (Currys aftersales). New set faulted with same error within weeks, "repaired" only to go wrong the day after it was returned. Has since had same problem two more times. Mastercare have now agreed to a refund (but only £1299!!!). Currys are about to get a very strongly worded letter...... DON'T BUY THIS TV.

ProsCons
LOOKS NICE (WHEN TURNED OFF).CONSTANT FAULTS.

Be Warned!!!!!!!

We bought this tv from Currys in late February, after 1 month the picture started to pixelate in vibrant colours, Currys would not replace it (as we have had it more than 28 days) so Mastercare picked it up and brought it back 14 days later, today (8 days after return) it has gone again. Mastercare want to pick it up and repair it again!!! Currys are deciding if they will replace it.
ProsCons
The tv stand is quite lovelyThe tv spends more time broken than fixed. Very poor level of service from both the retailer and Hitachi.
