Hitachi Cinema Projector Review
|
We live in a society where price can dictate quality. But just because something isn’t the most expensive thing on the market, doesn’t mean it’s not the best. And the Hitachi PJ-TX200 proves that. For less than 1.5K you get a brilliantly designed product that will be the envy of your neighbours, that works well too.
Design
|
| It’s more like a top of the range car than a projector. The Hitachi PJ-TX200 has a smooth silver exterior, beautiful curves and a sexy looking grill for the vent. Everything about this says elegance. Jeremy Clarkson you might not be a technofiend but even you are going to love this. The front hosts a decent big lens while at the back you’ll find sturdy connectors for HDMI and other jacks including the usual S-Video. |
| Setup/Installation |
| There's little to say about the setting up. It's all very self explanatory. You plug your device in to the back of the projector, switch it on and away you go. The lens will automatically start focusing on the screen. if you want to adjust the image, tweak the lens and fix the image. |
| Features |
| What you have here is a big eye watching over you. This is not the Big Brother sort of eye, this is an intelligent, adapting eye. The dynamic iris system works like a proper eye adjusting to the light and letting it in accordingly which provides a better image for viewers. The Super ED array (which is what Hitachi call it) uses four ultra-low dispersion and aspherical lenses which are supposed to give you fantastic colour, contrast and tones. As well as this the projector also had a ridiculously high 7000:1 contrast ratio and a 1280 x 720 resolution. |
| Performance |
This is a reasonably priced projector that works really well. For a start the TX200 is high definition ready. As an LCD projector this means that not only will it provide decent image but with Sky having launched most of its HD channels you can now hook this machine up to the box and start watching HD programmes, and as we all know this is just going to take your viewing experience into new dimensions. And the result is outstanding. Because the iris constantly adjusts itself to the light you get a fantastic image. Rather than the usual greying over or flat image what you get is a more vibrant brighter picture. And these aren’t synthetic colours, the tones are as natural as daylight. And the image which you can usual guarantee will be good on a projector is as sharp as the butchers knife with no graininess or dots – but rather a seamless image. The remote control is easy to use and feels great in your hands. The only down side of the iris is its auto2 function which sometimes seems to jump a bit. But other than that there’s very little wrong. |

| Overall Opinion |
| The Hitachi PJ-TX200 is one of the lowest priced projectors on the market, but remarkably one of the better ones. HD ready, it’s got an intelligent iris lens that adjusts to the image and can be adjusted itself too. The picture quality is brilliant and colours sharp. In terms of LCD HD Ready projectors, this one gets a big thumbs up. |
