In 2006 (18 February) we purchased a Hitachi LCD TV screen (type 42PD3200). We chose Hitachi because of their excellent reputation and our good experience with the brand. On 24 October 2006 the picture was gone black (sound was Ok). This problem was corrected under normal warranty. Unfortunately, the repair time was 2 months. On 15 July 2009 the same problem occurred, but now outside of the warranty period. Considering the repair costs, which are EUR 150,- for transport and investigation of the problem and excluding material and labor costs, the total estimated amount would be at least EUR 450,-. For that kind of money our TV is economically “Total Loss”. In our perception, a TV should be working correctly more than the almost 3.5 years of our Hitachi TV. For us this situation is not acceptable.
