Sony Cybershot DSC T5

Sony has introduced the Cybershot DSC T5 as the latest answer to an ultra compact digital camera combined with ease of use.  With its perfect pocket size this digital camera can be slipped into your pocket making it one of the most convenient digital cameras on the market.   The DSC T5 has 5.1 megapixels and 3x optical lens which is backed up by a 12x smart zoom feature and a 6x digital zoom. For close up photography the camera can focus from an impressive 1cm away from the subject.  It has a built in flash unit which can be set to automatic, always on, always off and slow syncro, the range of the flash unit is 2.5 metres falling to 2m when the zoom is in use.  However, the flash does not light up a very big area compared to other digital cameras.  The DSC T5 also offers a red eye reduction option. A rechargeable lithium battery and charger is required to power the camera which Sony supplies with the camera.  As far as memory goes the camera has its own 32MB of built in memory which can hold an average of 14 photos so it’s advisable for you to invest in a high capacity memory stick duo card. There is no viewfinder on this camera, just a 2.5in LCD screen where clear, easy to understand menus are available.  The camera has a shooting movies function and the movies duration is only limited by the capacity of the memory card.  Shutter speeds range from 1-8 minutes which is not as good as some Sony’s offering 0.006 m/sec.  There is a burst mode that allows you to fire off a number of shots in quick succession.  This lets you take a maximum of nine shots at a rate of one shot every 0.7 seconds.  A fun feature is the black and white and sepia shooting options, just something a bit different really. The DSC T5 is extremely user friendly as it comes with all the necessary cables and software to connect it to a PC, TV set and compatible printers.  All the controls for zoom, macro, self-timer and flash are all controlled by buttons on the back of the camera. The picture quality of the DSC T5 is superb and it is one of the most attractive cameras in the market.  You should consider that it is one of the more expensive five megapixel ultra compact digital cameras so you need to decide whether the camera’s looks are that important.  Take the time to shop around as there are cameras that are equally aesthetically pleasing that offer more in way of features.
