Prestige Appliances 50526 Cordless Electric Kettle

This is an attractive piece of kitchen equipment which had been serving us well until recently . The model number on ours is 50525 but it looks exactly like the one in the picture of model 50526. The plastic handle cracked and came away from the glass body posing a risk of scalding. We stopped using it immediately. Our retailer no longer supplies Prestige items. We did not keep the receipt and although the retailer admits to having stocked the item, will not help without the receipt. We seem to have no redress. We do have a kettle which we would like to get back to the suppliers but have so far drawn a blank. Advice would be welcome.
