Indesit WIL103 Washing Machine

Bought in 2005 for £199 plus £99 5 year whatever policy. Drum bearing was the first to go in 2009, repaired without having to wait ages. Came home ( after being out for no longer than 25 minutes ) to find smoke and fume smell coming from the kitchen. Luckily no acual fire, though it was quite apparent that if i had been out longer ( or God forbid, turned the machine on before going to bed) i may have come home to fire engines outside my house!. The wires at the back of the machine were all burnt and melted along with part of the drum case, plus damage caused to vinyl floor. HOPEFULLY THIS WAS JUST A FREAK ACCIDENT. I''m hopeful that Indesit will deliver me a new machine and investigate the fault fully. What happened to the good old days when electicals would last a lifetime ????

We inherited this machine when we bought our new house - 4yrs 10mnths ago. From what I''d read, we didn''t expect it to last more than a year or two but since it was ''free'' we thought we''d just run it into the ground then get a proper one. However, even with 2 kids under 3 (= daily usage, sometimes twice) it has run and run. I reckon we''ve had about 1500 washes. I thought this might be a freak occurance but my mum''s got one too ( WIL123S) and that''s about 3 years old and still going strong. I''m writing this because it has finally conked out - and i''m going out to buy a new Indesit! (P.S. I don''t work for them!)

I bought this indesit washing machine just over 3 years ago (replacing a 16 year old Hoover) and already it has broken down twice. Now the pump has broken. I have done on average 1 wash per week with the machine being nowhere near full so it has not been overused or overloaded. As it is no longer economic to repair it today I have taken delivery of a new Hoover which has amongst other features a 14 minute speed wash, and YES it does do it in 14 minutes, if you don't count the door lock function. I won''''t be buying Indesit again.
