Worst machine I''ve ever owned

Comfortably the worst washing machine I''ve ever owned. The controls are confusing - some things over-ride others, some controls control multiple things and the only way of telling which you''re altering is by checking a string of lights on the front that don''t always relate to what''s printed next to them etc... I''m technically VERY savvy but even I have to get the instruction manual out every now and again when I want to do something a little different - 2 years after buying the thing. The wash / spin cycle works fine except even 30 minute washes last an hour and a half with only a few shirts in. Drying is a) noisy b) bizarrely uses huge amounts of water c) takes forever and d) leaves clothes horribly creased. The machine seems to struggle controlling heat both in the drying cycle and when washing at higher temperatures. It uses horrific amounts of electricity - more than my 15 year old Zanussi used to - even at relatively low temperatures. But, worst of all, its completely unreliable. In 2 years, I''ve had 6 boards swapped, one motor changed and 2 other repairs. It''s not even a cheap machine. Avoid it.
ProsCons
NoneVery unreliable Poor energy efficiency Long wash cycles Creases clothes badly when drying

Don''t Buy!!

We bought a BWD219 integrated washing machine  about 4 years ago - we also bought an extended warranty from the retailer. I wish we hadn''t bought the extended warranty as it would have been cheaper and far less hassle to throw this noisy and break down prone machine away rather than have the hassle of dealing with the customer service centre and engineers. Our latest experience (and unfortunately not the only one) The machine started making an enormous racket. We call out an engineer. He turns up on time and diagnoses the problem. Broken bearing. He will return with part to fix. The second appointment is scheduled for the following week. It is cancelled on the day of the visit because of sickness. So far I have lost two days off work On day 3 the engineer shows up. He tries to access the machine and claims it is blocked by a dish washer and he can''t get access. He leaves hurriedly despite my protest. I disconnect the hoses and roll the machine out in two minutes - I immediately call the customer service centre later and request the engineer returns as he can get access no problem. Despite a promise that the engineer would return that day he doesn''t. The service centre book a 4th appointment two days later. 4 days off work so far. It is now 2.00 on day 4 the engineer that is booked to visit has called me twice (proactive - good!) and apologised as has is having difficulty locating the previous engineer who has the part. He is hopeful he will be able to get here today.....but he suggests I rebook. We have had no washing machine for over 3 weeks ....and we have 3 small kids!!!! We have wasted 4 days off work and spent a fortune at the launderette. I advise any reader not to buy an Indesit machine as from my experience the machine breaks down repeatedly and the repair service is bad beyond belief. It will cost you a fortune. Spend some extra money and go for a higher end more reliable machine. I wish I had.

ProsCons
Breaks down on a frequent basis Engineers and customer service are appalling Nosiy

DON''T BUY!

Bought in Oct 2005/installed Dec 2005/blew up and filled my kitchen with smoke Nov 2006., it was out of guarantee as I'd bought it more than 12 months (just!) but hadn't installed!!!. Engineer condemned it,told me that the technical engineer would attend on thursday. Took the day off, noone turned up. Customer Services = awful - the worst! I've never had calls returned, emails responded to, etc,I''ve been told I have a replacement machine but then theres no engineer and vv. Three weeks now.Latest=I was told they would call me when there was a replacement machine. No one bothered. I calledMonday and I was told that they could definitely do it the following Monday=No. escalated it.Nothing.I called them Weds Following the escalation I was told they "might" be able to deliver and install onMonday - so before escalation = definite week on Monday, after escalation = maybe Monday.??? How does that work.AVOID!AVOID!
ProsCons
Absolutely Jack Diddle! The fact that it was out of guarantee before it had been installed 12 months. The fact that it blew up. They''re supposed "Customer Service" Department.

We have tried and tested several washer dryers over the past 4 years and this model is by far the best integrated washer dryer yet. Not only is it one of the quietest washer dryer avaliable but its one of the only models on the market that can wash and dry a 4kg load with out having to take half of your wet clothes out for the drying fuction to work. Great Machine Well Done Hotpoint.
