Dissapointing!

We''ve had this oven for less than a year and the the oven door has already literally exploded (or shattered as Electrolux like to say) across our kitchen floor. The built under double oven had been off for a least an hour but it souned like a brick coming through a window. They say it may of been cleaned or maintained incorrectly but I know this not to be the case. The oven itself works well but trying to sort this out with customer services has involved all the usual runarounds and delays. I was given wrong email addresses, told to expect replies in 48 hrs that took a week, Service Force appointments cancelled, passed form elctrolux to Service Force and back to the original retailer, etc, etc. Turns out they have no spare glass so the whole cooker is to be replaced leaving us with the expense of hiring a fitter again! Having paid a premium for what we thought was a quality brand we''re left a bit miffed to say the least.

Dont be fooled that you are buying quality

We''ve owned one of these for about 4 years and i''ve previously sworn by AEG products for their quality so when we moved house, we kitted out our kitchen with AEG stuff at considerable expense. The oven itself is fine, does what it says on the tin and is easy to use but after 4 years I dont think i''ll ever buy AEG again. The quality is awful at this price level. 1. The door literally exploded all over our kitchen for no reason. We were not even in the house when it happened (luckily) and the oven had not been used that day. AEG explained that it has happened before, something to do with the tempering on the glass - to be honest i wasn''t convinced by their explaination but they did, eventually replace it for free. 2. We''re now on out 3rd element in 4 years of usage. Something certainly wrong there... and its not a simple job to replace. The replacement elements are £30 from AEG then add about £100 for someone to fit it. 3. It once threw a fit and refused to work at all after i left it running at full temp for about 45 mins (to burn off the fat on the catalytic liners). Once cooled down, it started working again. 4. Dirt gets inside the door cavity so requires regular dismantalling to keep clean. Again, i just dont expect design problems like this from AEG. it may sound like i may have had a ''friday afternoon'' model but we''ve also had problems with our AEG fridge/freezer and also the very expensive AEG induction hob we bought. Overall, i''m extremely disappointed with AEG quality and I''ll never buy from them again.
