Miele Novotronic Premier 500 Washing Machine

Bought a Miele Two and a half years ago, fantastic bit of kit, as i have had over the years a hotpoint, indesit, Zanussi, and the Miele 500 Premier just stands out from the rest. the only mistake i made was to neglect our machine and not descale once a month, as we live in a hard water area, i have just done that after Two and a half years and the machine run like new, with no bad odors and very clean clothes. Imagine wetting your clothes, squeezing out excess water, then putting them in a tub with no extra water; then adding your washing powder and agitating. Firstly the washing powder does not have enough water to dissolve. The clothes rub against each other harshly thus wearing out more quickly. That is what my Miele washing machine is all about. When it comes to the rinse cycle the rinsing water at last dissolves the washing powder so the rinse cycle becomes the wash cycle. Clothes do not get rinsed properly. Even using the smallest amount of washing powder does not seem to help as the clothes then do not get clean. I have had the engineer out and he says that the machine is working normally. Result - I just end up adding jugs full of water to each wash.

I''ve owned Miele ovens products since the late 1970s when I lived in Germany and the company designed a washing machine for me as a competition prize. In those 24years I''ve owned two washing machines,a dishwasher, tumble dryer, vacuum cleaner, fridge and freezer and the only one which has been replaced was the original washing machine when it packed up after nearly 20 years. In that time the machine was used for an average 25hours a week (we had children then!) and so had done nearly 30,000 hours work which is three times the amount of work for which it was designed. The original washing machine had also been transported around Europe before we finally settled in England and never damaged in the moves because of the restraining bars which were supplied with the machine and which prevented the drum from moving in transit. None of the other Miele equipment had ever failed or been replaced. The Miele Novotronic Premier washing machine which I currently own is now 14years old. It was originally designed for 10,000hours work and has been used for nearly 15,000 hours so far and is still as quiet, reliable and reassuring as it was the first time I used it. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Miele white goods - they have fantastic warranties of upto 10years. Their Service Dept in Abingdon is wonderful - they can often diagnose faults over the phone and advise on simple remedies you can do yourself - like checking inlet and outlet valves, and are unfailingly polite and helpful. As an example, when I first got the Novotronic I was finding bleaching on some washed items that hadn''t been apparent before the clothes were put in the machine. The engineer spent 3hours at our house checking the machine and trying to diagnose the problem before finally concluding the it was our daughter''s acne cream and nothing to do with the machine at all. There was no charge for his time and he was kind, polite and smiling when he arrive and when he left - I don''t think you''d get service like that from any of the cheap washing machine companies, and that''s why I would never hesitate to buy Miele machines every time.
