Grill Pan handle breakage

Just to add to this sorry list, I was cleaning the grill pan on my 95 year old Mother''s new''ish Cannon cooker when the handle fell (not ''snapped'') in two. Thank heavens she was not using it to move hot, greasy food. I am saddened that Cannon seem to have fallen from grace in recent times, they always were a benchmark for quality and service but are no longer so. I certainly will not be purchasing any of their products in the future.
ProsCons
It cooks stuffquality of build, difficult to keep clean, grid surround for hob burners does not protect surrounding enamel from scratching by saucepan bases (ie is set too low)

Cannon Henley door glass exploded

We bought our Cannon Henley in 2006 and five years later the door glass exploded across the kitchen floor as I tried to normally open the door. I contacted Cannon expressing my concerns about the safety aspect of this - my seven year old was close to the door when it happened - but they don''t seemed concerned. This was their response: "We can confirm that this is a recognised phenomenon and isolated incidents occur with cookers produced by all manufacturers not just ourselves. It is usually impossible to determine the cause of any individual failure of a glass insert. The most common cause is the fact that the glass has been subject to an impact at some stage in its life. The glass is designed to shatter in the safest way possible so that no sharp pieces are produced in the event of failure. We do appreciate that an incident of this nature must have been unsettling but would seek to reassure you that it is not indicative of a design or inherent safety issue with the cooker." They go on to tell me that I should book a service engineer to replace the door at a cost of £114.
ProsCons
NoneDoor design - prone to shattering and lack of concern from the manufacturer.

Cannon Oven Door Explodes Henley Model 10628G

Cooker has operated well since new some 5 years ago. Yesterday, my wife was lucky to escape with anything more than severe shock when the outer glass section of the door shattered into hundreds of pieces. She was not touching the oven at the time nor had she done so for some 10 minutes. The door showed no signs of being loose or worn in any way so what can trigger thiese events? With hindsight she/we no longer want a glass door on any cooker however the point here is that Cannon has supplied a cooker with an oven door that is prone to such events as this. You only need to search Google to arrive at this conclusion. I''ve contacted Cannon and await their response however I will not be dismissed by any talk of "never happened before Sir". These things are dangerous and maybe should be subject to recalls just like your car etc. Regards

exploding door

I bought a cannon chichester gas range cooker it''s almost two years old. The handle on the oven door worked loose within months of it being fitted, one of the the switches for to turn the gas on snapped and this week the glass on the front of the large oven door exploded into tiny pieces with no apparant reason. Can''t get hold of Cannon, tried phoning them, tried e mailing them but can''t find the right department.

Glass door shattering

The glass door has shattered for the second time in 2 years. The cooker door has not suffered any knocks of any kind and the oven is used very rarely.

Cannon really don''t get it right

Have 3 of these - a load of trash. Painted steel that rusts at the drop of a hat, FSD''s that die for a pastime, Timer that is a] uneccessary and b] when it inevitably breaks [cheap and nasty plastic!] makes the oven inoperable. Impossible to simmer - won''t turn down low enough Nightmare to disassemble to try and clean the infinite grease traps, and a manufacturers call out service that costs slightly more than a return trip to Mars And Cannon used to be the dogs privates!! Finally, how can there be 400ish different model numbers for a range of cookers? Inevitably, ordering bits [the vile plastic knobs break for a pastime] is a nightmare. Suggest rubbing 2 boy scouts together as a better way of cooking. A Don''t Buy - we won''t be buying Cannon when these finally drive us to distraction [pretty soon!!}
ProsCons
Nothing I can think ofRubbish build quality, diificulty identifying spares parts cos of absurd enormity of Model Nos

glass door shattering

The outer glass door on my Chichester cooker also shattered. I emailed Cannon who just say that incidents of this kind are ''''rare'''' and that the door must have suffered an impact at some time. I am not aware that this was so and saw no evidence of damage prior to the shattering. Whilst the cooker was good in every way and I have bought another Cannon ( try the M&S site for a good price) I am disappointed with Cannon''''s response. The cost of call out ( £100+ just to get a Cannon engineer to walk through the door ), replacement part plus hourly rate etc is excessive.

Cannon Chichester

Do not buy, as soon as the cannon cookers was more than 12 months old, if you have to open and close the oven door during an operation, the main oven switches itself off and you have to wait until it re-sets and this may take 30-40 minutes. Secondly the main oven fails to light up even though there is power and you have no choice but pay £105 for the call out engineer.

ProsCons
The oven Instruction booklet very poor no list of parts.

Condensation

The oven leaks water/condensation through the door seal onto the floor which can be a danger on tiled floors, Cannon say that this is normal and there is nothing they can do. Customer service is poor.

Not 100%

This cooker has several weak points. 1.The double top oven / grill control became stiffer and stiffer in use, until it would not turn at all. Replacement part thermostat Pt. No. 6603878 is £103.99 because of its complexity. 2. The grillpan handle is awkward to fit and cannot be stored on the grillpan in the grill area when cold. It has to be removed to close the top door. 3. Both the main oven and the grill section doors have very sharp glass edges 18" from floor (shin/knee or kiddie height). We fitted corner protectors but they distorted with the heat. Apart from this it has performed very well.
ProsCons
Very well made in most cases.Sharp edges, expensive weak part, grill pan handle.
