Wider still and wider...

I bought this lens, secondhand, because I wanted a significantly wider view on my Pentax 67 for landscape and architectural shots. Compared with a Mamiya wide-angle, it is thoroughly free of barrel distortion, and as sharp as all the Pentax lenses seem to be, with good contrast. Highly recommended, and a sound reason for choosing a Pentax system.

Medium format wide-angle joy!

With all the hype about digital imaging, sometimes we forget some of the imaging basics of our craft! For a wide angle scenic or interior, there are few digital cameras which can even approach the tonal quality or the sharpness of a 6x7 image easily produced on 120 film by the Pentax 45mm f4 on the 67 reflex body. The quality of the image produced by this lens really is apparent when you get into the 16x20 inch range. For critically sharp results many people like to shoot on a tripod with the mirror up, to reduce vibration. The focusing motion is silky-smooth, indicating precision machining technique. The image has a smoothness to it that is hard to describe, but a joy to see. The image clarity is refreshing to see, when so much of digital imaging produced today is just not that sharp!
ProsCons
It just produces beautiful images And on the used market is relatively inexpensive
