Sony NW-A1000 (6 GB) MP3 Player Review

editor The Sony NW-A1000 has been widely anticipated over the last few months and finally it is here. First impressions are this audio device has a good build quality with very smooth casing that has the clear plastic buttons indented into it to keep those smooth lines. It comes in several colours violet, silver, pink and blue, and of course even the headphones are colour coordinated.

The screen is a luminescent Organic EL display similar to what we have seen from other Sony Walkmans in previous releases. This display makes it look like the screen information is being displayed on to the outer casing, which looks great. To be honest a really do like the look and feel of this machine; its not trying to be a iPod in anyway and that can only be a good thing. The NW-A1000 Walkman is more than just a pretty face, it’s packed with features that would keep almost all MP3 users happy and the 6GB version that we tried out has space for up to 4,000 songs with up to 20 hours battery life. The navigation is easy to use and very similar to what we have seen before from other Sony products. Sony are trying very hard to push the ARTIST LINK function; when playing a song you can press to bring up other songs by that artist. It’s a good feature but for the amount of times that it would be used I'm not sure it should be a key feature. One of the features that a did like was that you can get it to shuffle songs by year this is a great idea on way to work I did a full decade of top notch songs. Overall I did really like the new Sony Walkman and I think people who give it a try will be happy with their purchase.
