Hi, Does the Sony BRAVIA KDL-40X2000 handle fast moving scenes with no blurring or juddering? How does it handle Standard digital definition broadcasts?

This TV is the first to beat a plasma in the same class. It handles blacks properly, it's what I'm going for in the X bravia range.

I have read favourable reviews on this screen, although
it does have some low level motion smearing on standard definition which is what I will be watching most of the time. I am a little dissapointed in this and I am now waiting for the new Sharp XDE1 series.

Does anyone know what the technical differences are between the KDL40 W and the X Series, and does anyone know the release dates of either of these products.
The X seems to be significantly more expensive but I'm not sure what you're getting for your money!

There are 2 ,main differences.
It has a better picture processing engine especially for analogue feeds. If you feeding in a SKY HD feed the difference is negligble. There are also some disign choices, coloured bezels etc. Apart from that, not a lot. Not sure it's worth £500 more though

X Series - you get one extra RGB Scart Socket, Bravia BE Picture, Different colour Bezels, Sound is different also.
There are some technical differences re contrast ratio and teletext pages etc as well
If you go to Sony website you can compare them side by side.
Review on here seems to favour the X for overall performance/features, whether or not its worth payimg the extra £ 400 (approx price difference between the X & W) is difficult to say, as I've not seen either model in any show room

I've seen both the x and W running on terestrial signals. Once you've seen the x it's difficult not to justify the extra cash. Even my notoriously sensible wife can't see why you'd want the W which raises the question as to why they released it.
The lack of comet tailing and pixelation on a normal signal is awesome. Like most people I haven't got HD input yet but I'll definately be getting the X. the sound is excellent too.

Looking at Review Marks - all seems great expect the Sound System 1/10.
Is this poor quality or just a typing error on the report ??

I'm looking to buy either one the W or X series 40 inch LCD TV. I've read that the W series doesn't handle fast motion very well, like the footy. Does the X series BE Ex resolve this issue. I watch footy a lot, also films, so which one is better for this, and is the motion blur that bad on the W series? Cheers guys.

Well Chaps, I went out yesterday and saw the X and W 40"" Bravia's side by side in Allders in Croydon.
I can see what Rollo is saying about the X being better, but the X is so much wider because of the speakers being on the side rather than below.
I bought the W on a very good deal actually, £1699 with a 5 year warranty. The cheapest I've seen the warranty is £299 so that makes the telly £1400. A bargin !
This is currently on offer in Debenhams in Croydon via an in-store merchant called Sonex.
Get down there quick !

Hi, I am in the same position as you. I was very keen to get an lcd but then nearly ended buying the Pioneer 42 PXD as it was getting top ratings in what tv. I then got talked into the sony w range with 1080 resolution. I thght this was the TV for me (altho the x is better it doesnt look as good) until I went to John Lewis and heard about this Panasonic plasma. ALthough it is only 1366x768 the picture quality is amazing and has a contrast ratio of 10,000 to 1. It also handles normal TV miles better than the Sony. They also make all their own parts (unlike Sony). BUT, in the end it is still only 768 resolution. I read in what tv that they are ready to launch a 1080 version and may wait for that. I too am confused as everyone seems to have a different view on the whole lcd v plasma. Has anyone got any thoughts? great website!

Dont buy this TV. I demoed this against the Pioneer and Fujitsu plasmas and it came a poor third. Poor motion tracking, poor SD, unnatural colours and worst of all a cloudy screen issue! There have been 100s of complaints about uneven backlighting with this screen (see avsforum). Dont believe the hype - avoid!

I have just bought the 40X2000U From www.robertwhyteltd.co.uk for £1959.98 which include Delivery and Free 5 year warranty. When you take into account the warranty would cost
£ 299.00 plus Delivery at around £59.99 this brings the base price for the 40X2000U TO £1600.99 which is the best price I have found. Thay also have Grate Package Offers as well I think this site is worth a Look? For you to make your owne mind up I would not get a LCD or Plasma with out extended warranty.

Hi read thru all your comments and am still thoroughly confused... was after a Samsung le40fdx due to its glossy black finish and the picture appears great in some showrooms but got talking to a rep in a Sony centre who, obviously pushed the Sony KDL402000, which is currently 1499 in his store, so started looking into it... Earlier response is correct that next to the Samsung it looked huge cos of the speakers which make it a lot larger than 40 inch.... Is Samsung LCD's really that bad in comparison?
