Smeg FAB28 Fridge - Retro Fridge -

Your comments made me laugh.
Last November my wife suggested we buy a Smeg fridge because, 'they look cool' she said. I said don't be ridiculous they might well look good but you're asking for trouble. I mean let's face it, Italy has style but they haven't really got a history of producing items to last. For example you wouldn't by a Ducati if you expected it to get to work every day in the winter. Like wise you will always find a Fiat broken down on the hard shoulder at some point during a motorway journey.
Anyway, the fridge is now 8 months old has begun fluctuating wildly in temperature and dripping water all over the food inside so much so we've had an engineer out to it twice now, to fix the seals which are so ineffective you can almost see the contents inside with the door closed. He claims not to have experienced this problem before and has so far failed to fix it, with his cowboy method of injecting silicon into it.
The fridge is clearly unfit for purpose and I therefore will be seeking compensation, although I suspect Smeg will try and keep coming to repair it until the 12month warranty expires in Novemeber.
Best advise is to steer well clear.
