Freeview is on the stable side and DVD quality is what one would expect. The same goes for recording. It records to all major dvd formats, including DVD+R DL. There is a HDMI out as well as a component output. There's a whole load of input connections and even USB/Firewire-in. The HDMI feature is nice for HDTVs, whereas component supports progressive scan.
The audio from this box, via HDMI, is louder than any other source connected to my TV.
