Digital Cameras
With literally hundreds to choose from, where do you start when wanting to find the right digital camera for you? Firstly, the manufacturer is very important and we recommend reputable brands such as Canon Cameras, Nikon Cameras, Sony Cameras, Panasonic Cameras and Fuji Cameras to name a few. When looking to buy a digital camera there are many aspects that are worth taking into consideration. The following features should play a great part in your decision making.
Mega Pixels
The more mega pixels the camera has the better quality images you will receive at larger sizes. For example, if a camera has 12 mega pixels, you can create larger, high quality images, however a 7 or 8 mega pixel camera will create high quality images at typical a photo size.
Image Stabilisation
In order to correct hand shake and image blur, Image Stabilisation is a fantastic feature that many cameras now have as standard. Other blur correction processes found on digital cameras are called anti-blur technology etc.
Face Detection
Many new cameras have Face Detection technology on board which means that the camera will detect upto 9 faces in an image and create the best focus, exposure, and flash for each of them ensuring a perfect picture every time.
Auto ISO
ISO is the number which indicates the cameras sensitivity to light. If the sensitivity if high, the less light is needed to make an exposure. Auto ISO is good on digital cameras as it will automatically adjust the ISO depending on the light available. Manual settings are usually available too, but this may only need adjusting if shooting in low light.
Zoom
A digital camera will have both an optical zoom and a digital zoom. The optical zoom will alter the focal length making a subject appear closer at the time the picture is taken. The digital zoom will zoom into the image taken and crop off the unused part of the image.
LCD Screen
A popular LCD screen size is 2.5", but you can get larger at 3" or more. The resolution of the screen is also important and most average at around 200,000 pixels as this determines the quality the image is viewed at. Some screens come with special anti-glare and anti-scratch coatings.
