There are many important features to look out for when choosing a new fridge freezer and although everyone’s requirements are different there are certain features that we all need in order to gain the best out of our cooler. Some of the most important and new features include automatic defrosting, adjustable shelves and door compartments, anti-bacterial protection, safety glass shelves, covered dairy compartments, super cooling features to keep the temperature down regardless of quantity. You can choose from a range of fridge designs such as the standard one door, white half or full fridge, a fridge freezer unit, a fridge with ice box, a side by side and now there are also some designer fridges that have an LCD TV screen integrated in the door, an in-door ice maker and ice/water dispensers. You can also choose from a wide range of colours so the boring white fridges are now a thing of the past. Choose from stainless steel, black mirror finish, titanium, silver, wood and more. As a fridge accounts for 20% of the energy used in your home, energy ratings are very important and are measured on a scale from A to G with A being the most efficient. The size and capacity of your fridge will depend on your family’s needs, however the larger the fridge the higher the energy consumption. It is also important to note that if you are fitting your fridge into a wall cabinet space, it is best to leave at least an inch at each side. This helps with installation and cleaning but also assists with the energy consumption because if the air circulation is blocked around the unit it will have to work harder. Another feature worth checking for is cabinet rollers. Although not in use most of the time, they will assist you greatly when installing and removing the unit. It is also worth mentioning that the appliances that have added extras may be nice to use but are not completely necessary and will use a lot more energy, therefore harming the environment.
