Zanussi ZWD1682 Washer Dryer
User Reviews of the Zanussi ZWD1682 Front Load All-in-One Washer / Dryer
We originally purchased a Zanussi Washer/dryer in 2006, the top model costing around £370. It broke down within 2 months with dryer problems. To cut a long story short, it broke down a total of 9 times (within the first year) only with moderate use with various faults basically all adding up to a poor drying system. The service agency "Service Force" insisted on contant repairs and would not declare it a write-off. This was a burden. Eventually after the service people left us with an awfull temp- replacement machine, we complained and recieved a like for like replacement. This top model (ZWD 1682 W) is again only several months old and has had its first repair already, to make matters worse, the engineer told us it will keep happening...great. A design flaw if you like. When we can afford it we will purchase seperate washer dryer units and thats what I would STRONGLY recommend to all.
Pros:
Nothing.
Cons:
Reliability.
Design.
Poor buttons.
Price.
This machine was plumbed in on Wed 24th Jan, after Appliance Deals delivered it on Tue 23rd Jan.
The machine managed one rinse, one 95' wash (to clean the machine), one 40' wash and one use of the dryer before it started buzzing and constantly taking on water.
Zanussi will not start organising a replacement of the machine until proven faulty by an engineer (due on 29th).
Appliance Deals can't help either as this is a ZANUSSI imposed limitation, and if indicative of Zanussi's customer service should be a big warning to anyone considering buying any of their products.
Although we haven't used the machine much, it's control layout is extremely well thought out, but sadly let down by spongy, unresponsive buttons. In addition, the central control knob is fixed, projecting into our kitchen at hip height. It does not push into the machine when not in use.
Drying was exceptionally good, taking less than half an hour, and the one wash it did manage was good too.
