Toshiba 37WLT66 Lcd Tv - Entry Level LCD TV -

Purchased a 37WLT66 from a electrical superstore and paid approx £1000. I had asked the sales assistant (wrong thing to do!) if this tv was as good as anything else which the reply was yes apart from Sony which is much more expensive. Like an idiot I purchsed this product, set it up at home really excited and chuffed I had a good looking ''top of the range'' tv that will be suitable for HD etc. Imagine my extreme dissapointment when I watched my first live footie match and each player had a distinctive, unmistakeable ''fuzz/blur'' around their profile!! Surely it must be the way I have set it up? Tried every setting, read the manual etc but still no improvement. Decided to ring Toshiba customer assistance who had the nerve to tell me that this is as good as it gets with this model, that it wouldn''t improve with HD and even worse, they actually said it was my hard luck for not asking the right questions before I purchased it!! I then did a bit of research on the web and discovered that this was a typical issue with early LCD screens and that all manufacturers had now introduced advanced electronics to overcome the image drag. My advice - don''t purchase this model or even Toshiba - buy Sony, the real thing.

Like many other I spent hours trawling the web and looking for a good quality yet resonably priced LCD. I decided on this 37 inch TV predominantly on price as I got mine at less than £700 with two HDMI inputs it was as future proof as I needed for what I will use it for......ultimately watching TV and DVD's. I am unlikely to connect a PC or Xbox. The picture quality is very good from about 7 feet away hooked up to normal Sky. I dont have HD yet so cannot comment although I suspect it will be excellent. The sound is adequate for normal TV but I've hooked up my surround sound as well. Like others, my screen buzzes if you reduce the contrast below 90. This isnt a problem as far as i'm concerned as I've never changed the setting from the 100 I put it on day 1. I had to find info on the web on how to programme my normal sky remote but apart from that I am very happy with my purchase. Put it on a black glass stand and it looks superb. Overall V Pleased.

Our old 23" Toshiba TV had to go, despite amazing service. We wanted a 36+" LCD and on-line reviews gave the Toshiba WLT66 high marks. We bought in early November at a price of about £900. Set up was fairly easy - the retailer sent the wrong remote control - but still managed to make nearly everything work, while waiting for a replacement. We have Sky HD, but even with normal signals the picture is excellent, clear with bright colours with no ghosting effect with fast moving sports action. Even with a 37" screen there is no pixel problem unless you're less than 6-8 feet away. With genuine HD programmes, the quality is outstanding. Audio quality is fine and speakers can be set in quasi-stereo mode. I should mention that with 'background light' set below about 90, we get a buzzing noise from the set and apparently, this is common. We don't see it as a problem, as I very much doubt you'd want this set below 90 anyway. Overall, we're enjoying this TV very much.
