Sony DCR-SR70 Camcorder :
Easy to use HDD camera, good bye to tapes, poor features
Alp Bahar's review of the November 22, 2006 0:56:51am
I bought this HDD camcorder as my previous 2 camcorders had issues with the tape drives. It records the video in MPEG format. It is very easy & quick to transfer the clips to the PC and edit them before burning on DVD. PC sees it as an external USB drive. Low light focusing performance is good. Night shot plus IR recording is fun. Antishake works well. This camera is losing on some technical details: - It doesn't have a USB socket on the camera body. You need to use the handycam station whenever you want to transfer the videos to your PC. - The narrow angle lens (focal length is 46mm when converted to 35mm equivalent) is not very suitable for indoor recordings. You need to spend 120 pounds for a VCL-HG0730X 0.7x convertor which will convert it to 33mm. Disappointing product from Sony. No wonder they don't provide the detailed technical specs on the web. I wish I didn't buy it. Check out the Sony KDL32EX301
