User Reviews of the Sharp R 249 800 Watts Microwave
Sharp R-249 = Review After 6 months of use

Having had the use of a Sharp microwave at our last rented home, we decided to buy one. We bought this model the R-249 as it was being sold fairly cheaply, and having just moved , cash flow was tight. With two teenage boys, plus my wife and I working into the evenings at times, it does get very well used. It has proved to be a very satisfactory machine, plus has stayed remarkably free of baked on food splatter. I appreciate that it is a basic model on the scale, but at 800 watts, it does the job. It is mid-range in terms of cubic capacity. It does have three options for power reduction (70%,50%,30%), defrost, timer delay and some program abilty. e.g. if you want to setup a cycle: heat 2mins, wait 1 minute, then heat 2mins It has 8 preset "express cook" and 2 preset "express defrost" settings, we have never used any of these.
Pros:
800 watts
Cons:
Keypad and digital display are not illuminated. No 12 or 24 hour real-time clock at all.
