Samsung Q1 Ultra Mobile With Free Usb Keyboard And Organiser
User Reviews of the Samsung Q1 Ultra Mobile PC with Free USB Keyboard and Organiser (122250122573) PC Laptop
Having my Q1 since 2nd June I am quite sure I made a very useful purchase. I'd often considered a second PC for use away from home and contact to my desktop computer - but even the smallest laptop seemed somewhat cumbersome. The Q1 is super small yet with a 7" screen and very lightweight. It worked OK out of the box and connected to my wireless/router immediately. It has XP Professional so I can use Remote Desktop to run between the two machines. My best experience however is making phone calls via Skype - even to a landline phone number. The built-in stereo microphone and speakers make it a simple handsfree hasslefree conversation. A special USB lead is supplied to automatically load and run a file transfer program when plugged into your existing computer which brings up twin explorer-type windows to select for transfer.
The onscreen keyboard is easy to use, as is its freehand writing option which will transfer the writing as text into a document!
Powerup time to desktop is 90secs.

Pros:
As fast to use on 2mbit broadband as my DELL XPS desktop.
Easy to tab to a different screen resolution - see poor comment made.
Automatic screen dimming and other power saving options which spring back on use.
Cons:
Whilst the default resolution gives superb image the SAVE/CANCEL/EXIT buttons positioned at the bottom of the screen by some Windows software are not visible unless the resolution is changed via the "autoscaler" button provided.
Battery life could be better but is OK given overall size/weight.
Expensive initial purchase but easy to use.
