Not the cheapest of sets but then you get what you pay for.
The image is sharp and rock steady with a brilliant colour range and contrast.
With a number of preset picture modes, each one customisable, you can set this panel up to look how you want. You can actually make it too bright/sharp/colourful so that side of things is not an issue.
A common argument against LCD is that the blacks are not as dark as Plasma. This is true but the LE40F is ''almost'' level with a Plasma in this respect and has the added advantage of being non-reflective.
Response is excellent - fast screen action is crisp and smooth. Games via my XBOX 360 look stunning.
I have this unit hooked up to the Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-ray player via HDMI and the picture quality is awesome. Even standard DVDs look amazing.
Sound is adequate for watching normal TV but for DVDs and games I listen to it through a Cambridge Audio 640A stereo Amp.
Pros:
The overall look and finish of the unit makes it a welcome addition to the living room even before you turn it on.
Picture quality is outstanding.
Cons:
Occasionally when I turn on the screen colours flicker randomly until I cycle the power again. I''m assuming this is an isolated malfunction and will get my unit replaced shortly.
The stunning DVD and game performance shows up the appalling quality of standard TV (even via cable). This coupled with the fact that the signal has to go through some pretty radical processing to upscale it to the 1080p panel means that standard non-HDTV signals are likely to look ghastly compared to your old CRT TV.
