Philips DVDR75 DVD Recorder Reviews Information
User Reviews of the Philips DVDR75 Dvd Recorder
What a load of rubbish!
Bought this in Jan 2004 as a VCR replacement, plugged in and setup. The output picture "rolled" on my TV screen. After calls to vendor & Philips, they agreed it was faulty (I''m an electronic design engineer with 30+ years experience, so I know when electronic goods are bad). Unit returned after a week or so with exactly the same fault! Went through the retern process again, 3rd unit arrived and it worked OK at last.
After 6 months or so, I got round to recording on a DVD+R rather than DVD+RW. The unit would not accept the disc, so off for repair yet again. Arrived back and seemed to work OK at last.
Now, summer 2007, the unit has become highly temperamental, refusing to play discs just recorded (I''ve tried new discs, no difference), and frequently saying disc error when turned on with disc already in it that had played OK previously. This is only 3½ years old and has not been used heavily.
In my experience with Philips goods, some 3 or 4 expensive electronic items, they have always let me down. I really think they build things to a very poor standard.
I shall never buy any Philips goods ever again. Sony/Panasonic, here I come.
