User Reviews of the Panasonic TH-37PX70 Television
Bought this plasma TV to replace my old Philips 32" Pixel-Plus CRT TV. Although the SD picture quality on the Panasonic is not as good as the Philips - it is not too bad. HD picture quality, and picture quality via the DVD player, is superb, however, and far better than most LCD panels I''ve watched recently. The detail in dark scenes is excellent - which is where LCD screens are poor. Also the ''viewing angle'' is far greater than with LCD screens - which is good if you have a room where not everyone can watch from directly in front of the screen.
Sound quality from the in-built speakers is also very good compared to many flat-panels - although I''ve now paired the TV with a Panasonic SC-PT850 Home Cinema kit which obviously improves the sound no end!
One problem - the much hyped ''Viera Link'', which enables you to control other Panasonic equipment via the TV remote (and which also enables simultaneous switch-on and switch-off), does not work if you have a Sky HD box connected (which is ludicrous in view of the fact that the TV is ''HD Ready''). This is because the Sky HD box outputs a constant voltage on Pin 13 of the HDMI lead which prevents the Viera Link from working. After taking advice from my supplier, I resolved the issue by removing pin 13 from the supplied Sky HDMI cable (very fiddly - but possible!). The Viera Link now works fine.
Overall - highly recommended.

Pros:
HD and DVD picture quality. Appearance.
Cons:
Like most flat-panel TVs - the SD picture is not as good as CRT TVs.
Viera Link does not work without modifying the HDMI cable.
