Panasonic SD-253 Bread Maker Review

Panasonic SD-253 Bread Maker review

Panasonic SD-253 Bread Maker :
Couldn''t recommend it

Mr Potter's review of the August 21, 2010 12:39:40pm

I''ve owned the Panasonic SD255 for 26 months and from day 1 was dissapointed. The bread was very dry just under the crust and went off very quickly, following the recipes the texture was cakey. I can''t get a consistent loaf, the top always seems to be uneven and frequently the loaf fails to rise properly. Occasionaly the bread comes out perfect but few and far between. The machine is used a least every 2 days and is our main ''bread provider''. The Which? report and many other users have said how good the machine is and that is why I bought it. Compared to our first Morphy Richards maker (no longer available) this machine is very poor.

Pros and cons by Mr Potter

Pros: Pan build is good and has not failed. Good range of baking options. Great for pizza bases as well.

Cons: inconsistent results (fresh ingredients, exact recipe) Can''t view the bread when it''s cooking. Can''t adjust the crust for Wholemeal bread.

Panasonic SD-253 Bread Maker - Update

Nigel Boag-Butcher's review of the January 24, 2010 5:23:10pm

The last time I wrote about the Panasonic SD 253 Bread Maker was on 28 March 2006 . It is now January 2010 and I am still useing the same machine every week to make bread. The machine has never failed to turn out a great loaf of bread each time it is used. I would have no hesitation in recommending this brand of bread maker, it has been very reliable. As I said in my first review, very easy to use with excellent results, just follow the book. When it eventually needs replacing I have every intention of buying the same make again.

Pros and cons by Nigel Boag-Butcher

Pros: Never produces a bad loaf of bread.

Cons: None

Panasonic SD-253 Bread Maker :
Fantastic breadmaker!

Mrs G Penman's review of the January 3, 2007 5:40:48pm

The panasonic 253 breadmaker is everything it says it is. I have owned one of these machines for 6 months now and everything I have made has been successful - not one disappointing result! Since we bought the machine, we have never bought anything made from dough. The flavour and texture are excellent and I have since bought machines for other members of my family, including my parents, who are in their 80's. Now they are hooked, like us! Fresh bread every day and no preservatives or standing in long queues!

PAT HEATH's review of the September 29, 2006 10:05:36am

This is a fantastic machine. We have had one for around 6 years and it has never put a foot wrong. We make all sorts of bread and rolls and have't purchased a loaf of bread since we bought it. Highly recommended

Pros and cons by PAT HEATH

Pros: The smell of freshly backed bread is unforgettable

Panasonic SD 253 Bread Maker

Nigel Boag-Butcher's review of the March 28, 2006 8:23:34pm

I bought my Panasonic SD 253 Bread Maker over 12 months ago. Never used a Bread Maker before, so I was unsure of what to expect. Very pleasantly surprised, the machine is simplicity itself to use. You simply follow the instructions in the hand book, which is well presented and contains a wealth of information, and the machine does the rest. The pleasure of waking up to the smell of fresh bread in the morning is difficult to beat. The difference is very much in the taste, bought bread had started to give me indigestion, and you have no idea what additives are included when they bake it. By contrast you make the bread that you want to eat. The only problem is, there are so many to try. One of my best buys, and one I will never regret. In summary, a well built and robust machine, easy to use, which produces perfect bread.

Pros and cons by Nigel Boag-Butcher

Pros: Stylish, well built and designed, easy to use, and provided you follow the recipes in the book, you can't fail to make a great loaf of bread every time.

Cons: The dough paddle leaves a hole in the bottom of the loaf, but most other makes do as well, and it doeas not affect the quality of the bread.

Panasonic SD-253 Bread Maker :

Alan Riley's review of the October 15, 2005 10:45:13am

Does exactly what it says on the box! Easy to use, consistent results and reliable (in use daily for over 12 months). Dough recipes have needed to be adjusted slightly but that is down to personal preferences. Friends who use other makes have commented on how good the finished product is compared to what their machine produces.
