User Reviews of the Panasonic NV-GS230 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
Not bad for under £300

I bought this camera as I was videoing a friends wedding. I paid less than £300 so wasn''t expecting perfection. It isn''t, by any stretch of the imagination, a professional camera. It''s small, light, easy to hold and is simple to use. The quality of the image is very good for it class. The 3 CCD system really boosts the colours and gives a vibrant image. The problems occur at low light - the nv-gs230 really struggled and images were murky and focus was often terrible. The menu system is navigated using a joystick control at the back. You''ll either love this or hate it. It certain speeds things up and, once you get used to it, you can change settings in a very small space of time. I''m used to the Sony touch screen system so I found it awkward. Sound is good for a camera in this price range - but even better is the fact that there is a mic input - something I see less and less of these days. Unfortunately I would have liked DV-in as well as out. Overall I''m happy with the 230. It''s cheap, cheerful and definately the best camera I''ve seen at under £300.
Pros:
3CCD provides great colour. Decent range of features. Microphone input.
Cons:
Terrible in low light. No DV-input
