User Reviews of the Indesit IS60V Tumble Dryer

Our INDESIT tumble dryer caught light. Luckily we were in the
house and noticed the smoke (no smoke alarm in the kitchen
- now there is!). A design flaw means that dust and fluff leaks
from the filter and settles inside the dryer close to the heater
element. This caught light in ours - lots of embers and smoke.
In particular dust collected behind the rear of the drum at the
hot air vent. I expect that dust caught light on the element and
was blown onto this other collection of dust. The rear seal
was damaged by the fire.
If you have one of these tumble dryers and value your house
either bin it or get someone to remove the dust at regular
intervals, especially the region as above. As it is a design
fault, it is likely that you too will have a fire.
Next time I''''ll spend a little more and will get a proper brand.
Pros:
May dry clothes well for a month or two before the fire.
Cons:
Likely to cause a fire.
Machine operated strictly i.a.w. mfgs instructions but after 18 months of (noisy) operation it started smoking. Took the top off and found the carcass full of fluff which had found it''s way into the heater elements and started smouldering. Removed 2.5 shopping bags full of fluff, vacuumed the thing out and now repeat this every six months. :(
Cured the noise by changing the bearing plates at the front of the drum - plenty of info on the web on how to do this. :)
OK if you are a white goods technician but don''t let it out of your sight when it''s running. Wouldn''t recommend it for a busy mum and DEFINITELY don''t let it run over night. This thing''s a potential killer.
Pros:
Cheap and cheerful.
Cons:
Fluff leaks out of poorly designed vent system into machine body. Poor build quality.

Pathetic door lock broke just weeks after installation. The £35 replacement is exactly the same rubbish quality build. Tiny piece of plastic (and I mean tiny) designed to take the force of the door opening and closing on it. Useless piece of junk after a couple of weeks.
Steer clear of Indesit......now Indebin.
Went through two brand new machines in one week. Total drying time 40mins. Bad build quality. Traped clothes in the gap between the drum and the front of the machine causing holes and black marks. Both machines the drum fails but the heating element stays on potential fire hazzard.
Pros:
none
Cons:
Everything
rubbish. bearing failed after 13 months, and then it was only used during the summer.
cheaper to buy a new one than to get it repaired
Pros:
was ok when working
Cons:
should last more than 13 months

Although this rear venting appliance performs reasonably well for the money don't expect it to last too far out of the statutory warrenty period. And don't expect any help whatsoever from Indesit when it does pack up. Mine lasted 16 months before going in the skip. Sounded like a cement mixer from day 1 so don't think you're buying a quiet one.

Pros:
Looks ok in the slot in my kitchen. Easy to use. Cheap like most rear ventors these days.
Cons:
Poorly designed linen filter system means heating element is quickly breached turning this appliance into an incediary device. Poor quality pivot bearing worn out within 18 months. No help from manufacturer if you don't subscribe to their modern day con extended warrenty.
