Hotpoint CTD00 Dryer
User Reviews of the Hotpoint CTD00 Tumble Dryer

Just 10 days out of the year''''''''s warranty and a horrendous noise coming from the drum. Hotpoint quoted £90 just for call out charge. Found someone to fit it for £45. I can do it myself next time....undo all the screws on the bottom left hand side and take the cover off. There is a (sorry don''''''''t know technical terms) black vent type thing...the clip had come off. It just needed a new jubilee clip. That was 2 months ago. Now it isn''''''''t drying anything and there''''''''s no heat in the drum. Any ideas anyone? Would prefer to fix it myself than call someone out again.
Earsplittingly noisy, I try not to use it if at all possible, vibrates through the house it should come with a health warning. I have yet to ask my neighbours if they can hear it.
If I had known Hotpoint was from the same group as Indesit I would not have purchased it. I have had previous experience with this company when we purchased a washing machine that did not work properly.
Pros:
The water container is at the top of the machine and is easy to empty.
Cons:
The door is really easy to open, if you accidentally touch it or brush past it the machine switches itself off and the door opens.

Purchased the appliance in November 2006. Came with standard manufacturers 12 month warranty, didn''t take out the extension option. Continual problems with this model from day 1. The most persistent was the machine continually stopping and telling us to empty water, when there was plainly no water to empty. Called out the engineer who didn''t come up with any satisfactory remedy other than to switch off at the socket to allow the computer to re-boot. Needless to say this was a complete waste of time. The machine is now just out of it''s warranty period. We are now subjected to an ear splitting noise when the drum starts to rotate (even when there is no load in the appliance). Hotpoint have quoted us £90 for an engineer to come and rectify this (payable up front) or £14.95 per month for 10 months which gives an extra 12 months warranty. We are now looking at other manufacturers to replace this model. What an absolute diabolical waste of resources. I would never consider a Hotpoint (or Creda, or Ariston or indeed Indesit - as they are all in the same group) again.
Purchased this item 2 years ago and have used it as little as I possibly can due to the horrendous noise it makes.
The original machine that was delivered kept tripping out the electrics. The Hotpoint repair agent found that there was electrical shorting when the drum touched the housing.(He warned me at the time that this was a noisy model) The tumble dryer was replaced with a new one which is so noisy that I have to close the door and go to the other side of the house when it is on due to the noise and vibration. If all these machines are like this I wouldn''t touch it with a bargepole!
I am buying a new, low decibel machine made by a different manufacturer and wouldn''t wish my old machine on anyone so it is going down to the dump - such a waste of materials and so eco unfriendly.
Pros:
None
Cons:
Noise and vibration. Sounds like a jet engine taking off.
Machine has been used a lot due to poor weather and small children and has been reasonably effective.
Bought Oct 05 for £230.
Drying is reasonably efficient provided light loads dried and condensor matrix cleaned regularly.
Problems with door latch (too weak) and blown heater element.
Top mounted water container is convenient but need for water pump has made machine too complex (old model Aquarius used gravity to fill bottom mounted container)

Pros:
Water contaner mounted at top makes emptying easy (but heavy and prone to spilling when full).
Cons:
Door latch weak. Door sags on hinges preventing safetly lock engaging to allow machine to start.
