User Reviews of the Hotpoint Aquarius WD420 Front Load All-in-One Washer / Dryer

Do not buy this machine, it is utter RUBBISH!!! I have had nothing but problems with it, first the heater broke on the tumble dryer, then the door mechanism went along with the control panel and I could''nt get my washing out for 2 days, and now today the start button won''t work and I now can''t do any washing. Phoned customer services who were very rude, and said I would have to pay £95 for them to come and repair it unless I took out a repair protection plan at £14.90 a month, hello that is bascially the cost of buying the whole machine again. I''d rather buy a new one then give them more money to get them to fix something they didn''t do before. This machine is the WORST on the market, avoid at all costs or you will have nothing but trouble and constant paying out. It really is a piece of RUBBISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought this machine in June 2007. The motor got broken after only 4 months. To get an appointment for engineer to come earlier then 7 days - I had to complain to the retailer. Then it turned out that for the new part I have to wait at least 7 days. There is no exchange option and no complaint procedure. The Customer service staff was rude and unhelpful. Basically they expected me to be grateful that I have an appointment. It was complete opposite to what I would expect from Hotpoint. I am disappointed in the quality of this appliance and in the way Hotpoint deals with repairs

I used this appliance whilst it is on loan from my sister who has had it for around 2 years. i have experienced a problem with the door locking mechanism, i found a replacement part, and it still doesn''''''''t work.
She brought the machine from C#~£T in kettering on meadow road. we went there to see about getting a replacement part and they siad they don''''''''t stock individual parts, (stupid if they stock loads of appliances but no spare parts). so we went to a more than helpful shop on stamford road in kettering, got the replacement part at a cost of £15, i fitted it myself, and lo and behold still does not work.
since we had paid so much money £200, for the appliance, surely they should have a free service on the internet to answer problems for free.
Bought the machine in Sept 06 for moving into a brand new house. 1st problem arose in Dec 06. The machine flooded my kitchen and ruined the flooring which went from back door to front door as the house was open planned! 2nd problem came in June 07, the machine wouldn''t spin and kept sticking on cycles. As it was still under warranty we managed to get this repaired - after all it only needed a whole new drum at the age of 9mths old!!! It took nearly four weeks for this to be repaired!!! More recently our troubles have once again began. At the beginning of Dec 07 the machine started sticking on cycles and the dryer has become unfunctional. The clothes come out more wet of the dry than they did when they went in! As I sit at the minute the machine won''t go beyong the wash stage of any of the cycles to rinse or spin. We manually have to restart the machine and chose the drain button. We then have to restart again and chose a spin option. Most of the time the fast spin won''t work and we are ending up with under washed unsoun clothes which in the middle of the Winter we find hard to dry. As you would gather I''m currently trying to research a better washer/dryer at value for money. This piece of junk is no longer welcome in my kitchen, it''s causing more bother than my husband and two young children are!!!!

It`s a piece of crap! Stopped working with an electrical/curciut problem after a year and ten days, which means i`m gunna have to dosh out the best part of £90 to Hotpoint to get it fixed! Bollox to that, i`d rather bin it and buy another from a different manufacturer than give them tossers any more of my money! Do yourselves a favour, and keep well away from Hotpoint. My mum`s got a Phillips, and hasen`t had a problem in 10years, see you there!

Ihave found this machine to be very noise when washing and drying, Although apart from the noise it washes well it is when it comes to drying that it really fails. Cloths that i used to be able to tumble dry and then hang up now need ironing as they are more creased than if left to dry naturally. Needless to say i will not be taking any insurance to cover this machine as the sooner it breaks the sooner i can buy a new machine.
