My grandson was filmed being a wonderful Scrooge on one of these cameras but the disks refused to finalize. As the family computer guru I got the job of sorting it out. The only solution was Isobuster which read the ''non existent'' files and reconstructed the recordings. A video editor program then let me put the clips together. This program is a must of you have one of these cameras. It is no use having all of the wonderful features if you have problems with seeing the pictures. Hitachi need to include all necessary software when they sell the camera.

A great name so I expected the camera to be the same. No software, no av,my current video editing software does not recognise the file extension so I''m stuck. Nero did make the effort but I expected the video to have 8 chapters (breaks in recording) and got 83. To think I gave up my JVC for this lemon. Would love to get the Hitachi top brass and shove this camera where the sun don''t shine.
Pros:
Easy to operate.
Cons:
Great recordings but can''t do a thing with them, how frustrating is that?.
I have since contacted Hitachi in Tokyo re the failure of the camera to download into Pcs and they still are not very helpful advising me to contact the following website where software which ''''''''''''might'''''''''''' help can be purchased.Unable to give website on this email
I have visited this site but it still does not give a direct answer as to which osoftware to use.Thank You Hitachi for such a useless machine we were conned into buying. Not fit for purpose I think is the saying. I am scrapping it and buying a Sony
Pros:
Good clear shake free pictures. Excellent zoom fascility
Cons:
Instructions book with wrong instructions. Unable to download into PC
Obtained as a birthday gift from my wife and have followed instruction in the book religeously, using the USB lead provided and it simply refuses to download into my computer, no matter what, various computer buffs have also tried without result. I am only a learner with this technology and feel I have been ''''suckered '''' into purchasing this machine, when we were not told at the time of purchase that extra equipment needed to be purchased to allow downlading direct from the camera , the only way being at present to finalise the disc and play it directly through the computer. Plus the instruction s on page 115, are wrong, as the pc DOES NOT recognise the camera, and comes up on screen as NO CAPTURE DEVICE DETECTED.. So now I learn I have to purchase more software to make it work correctly. Not very satisfactory at all
Pros:
Small compact, easy to use and carry
Cons:
Unable to download diectly. Lack of customer care

I love the size of the camera and the excelent quality of the videos when played back on the TV using the connection leads. The zoom is also a very satisfying experience and I was completely in awe when playing back a video I made of a race up a local hill, the clarity and lack of ''fuzzyness'' was more than I could have hoped for.
The down side for me has to be the inability to successfully use the camcorder with my computer. There is no software issued with the camcorder it cannot be played on the computer, even via the cable. Many a frustrated hour has been spent searching the web. I got in touch with Hitachi and was told that I would have to purchase the software from PC world or Amazon. Not what my husband was told at the time of purchase.
Hi
The Camcorder fits very easily in your hand and the buttons are within easy reach.
The actual filming itself is easy, and no need to keep your finger on any buttons while recording.
The quality of the playback is good and if you pick the right setting you dont pick up much background noise.
The only thing I find confusing is the instruction manual. It`s very thick because it`s in 3 different languages, which isnt bad, but the really confusing thing is, the manual is used for 4 other different camcorders apart from the one I have. So I find it confusing as I`m not sure if I`m reading the right instructions for the right camcorder.
I`m happy with the camcorder, but wish that the manufacturar would make one manual for one type of camcorder, that way life would be easier.
Pros:
Good value for money, nice size.
Cons:
The Instruction Manual, not clear enough on how to work each type of camcorder.
