Hitachi 55PD9700 Plasma Television

You can read a wide range of professional views about this set but the fact is that in your home, without any other sets alongside to compare and confuse as in a showroom, it is truly great. The size is awesome. A 55in diag screen is 71% larger than a 42in screen. This increase seems pretty large on paper but in the room it beggars belief - if your room is large enough not to be dwarfed by this monster-sized screen, then this is an instance when size DOES matter. Bigger is definitely better. A particular selling feature at the time of writing this review is the unusual FOUR YEAR manufacturer's parts and labour warranty. Of course the prospect of shipping ones 55in screen to a Hitachi service centre is daunting but if you BUY from a Hitachi service centre (at maybe 5% more than the very keenest internet box shifter price) there is every reason to hope that they will offer a collect and return service as part of their after-sales service. At least that's what I was told!
