Garmin Streetpilot I3 Sat Nav
User Reviews of the Garmin StreetPilot® i3 Sat Nav / GPS Receiver

ONly one word: great tool!
Pros:
easy!
Cons:
nothing (to small?)
Cracking, basic, little sat-nav. Was always a little dubious of these things but now wouldn''t be without and it has saved me endless hours. I travel many places alone and it is impossible to do a journey without stopping to read a map (you of course wouldn''t read read whilst driving). - what a star!!
Pros:
Small enough for handbag and can use std AA batteries with or without the charger
Cons:
Could do with touch screen

I''ve had mine awhile now. Has worked brilantly everytime except once around Sevenoaks where the postcode input took us to an obviously wrong address. This happen too with other cars I was following who had Tomtom and Navman satnav''s, so probably a postcode anomoly.
I would recommend this to anyone. Excellent value for money!
Very Poor -Garmin crashed several months after purchase ( hardly been used ) and despite doing all the updates and master resetting later died saying "cannot find sat positions." Phoned Garmin who said it would cost £72 to look at. Now bought a TomTom which I should have done much earlier. Back- up from Garmin is very poor -and to charge £72 to even look at an item is just laughable -avoid and get yourself a real Sat Nav unit and pay a little more for decent back up and better relaiblility.
Pros:
Nice small neat unit and cheaper than TomTom.
Cons:
Back -up Customer support from Garmin -useless.
I bought one of these in August 2006. whilst it worked it was brilliant, but 6 months later it started nagging me about updating the map, which I ignored, since from year to year, not that much changes where I live. From then on it stopped ''''recognizing'''' the destinations I entered, making it practically useless. So to keep it working you have to pay $80 (USD) every year to update the map. Not a fact that was drawn to my attention anywhere, in the print nor by the seller.

This unit is easy to use, very accurate and reliable. It does everything I want a sat nav to do - that is get me where I want to go without getting lost. It does not take pictures or play mp3's, the screen is only small and is not touch sensitive. But that dosen't matter because the screen is big enough to see, it is very clear and the voice instructions are spot on. If you've got loads of cash and want to show off go for a tom tom wide screen, if you've got more sense get the i3 you won't regret it!
Pros:
Very compact
Clear mapping
Clear voice
Great Value
Cons:
Nothing at all
Great little item. Basi but brillant. Had 3 months and always been A1.
Only issue I had was the poor user manual that doesn't explain how to start it for the first time. Manual was useless and only after calling Garmin did I know that first time out the box it can take 15 - 30 minutes to find the satelitte as built in Taiwan and tested on satelitte there. After that, life has been great. Buy one!
Pros:
Dead easy to use. Small and easy to store.
Cons:
User manual
Perfect. Its small enough to take out of the car and carry around (no scum smashing your window on the grounds of a tell-tale sucker or holder)Its accurate, it recalculates quickly, its cheap. What more do you need? Buy it.
Pros:
Portability. Size.
Cons:
None

Brilliant, easy to use, just put in the postcode or address and it takes me there. Instruction book doesn't do this GPS justice but luckily its easy use without refering to instruction book. Easy to download points of interest and camera database. Can set 'via' points -the instruction book doesn't tell you this! I can't praise this GPS more highly -it makes driving so much easier! It's also small enough to fit in my pocket when I remove it from the car. Not only does it get me to my destination but can guide me to nearest petrol station, cafe or supermarket! I wouldn't be without it.
I can only agree with all the positives that everyone else has mentioned. I'm totally new to GPS systems but bought this after it was recommended by Which as the best in its class. For approx. 140 quid it's superb v.f.m. and I've just uploaded all the latest speed cameras / gatsos etc. from another website for 2 quid. It will easily take you from A to any B in the U.K. (and Ireland) and basically that's all I want it for. You have the facility to download extra mapping from across the globe via Garmin's website if you need to later on. Obviously this is at a cost.
Garmin have specialised in aeronautical GPS for the last 15 years or so and I can only assume their existing technology has been used to provide such a cheap and accurate device.
Pros:
Many
Cons:
Lack of user instructions

great this small but excellent sat naigation system has taken the stress out of driving to new destinations I no longer have to argue with my wife over taking the wrong turn geting lost. The screen is small but perfectly adequate. The voice commands are clear and exact, the recalculating of your route if you go off track is fast. I cannot say enough about it I purchased my street pilot i3 from my local kwick save store for £99 they are selling them off reduced from £165
Pros:
accuracy
small and compact fits in pocket or hand bag easy to use plug in and go
Cons:
no touch screen
What a great product, can update via usb using the garmin website, Can also download POI''s, speed camera locations, schools zones etc You have to download the updater and POI loader first but the software is available free via the garmin website. And the website is pretty clear and gives you all the instructions necessary to keep most people happy. The POI''s are third-party software theirs a link on the garmin website.
