Epson DX6050
User Reviews of the Epson All-in-one Stylus DX6050 InkJet Printer

pleased with the performance of this printer for enlargement copying and scanning it is very versatile and you don''t need a computer very pleased with product
I''ve always had HP printers but decided to give this a go since a friend recommended it and it was on offer.
GOOD: has been operating brilliantly for 9 months. Good, reproducible definition and colours
BAD: cartridges don''t seem to last long. It was using compatibles/refilled that killed my HP so I''m still using branded. I used to be able to print greeting cards etc on my HP (even though it had a 180 degree feed). However, for some reason this printer will not accept thin card although Epson sell an expensive 188gsm card that is supposed to work.
UGLY: Noisy. The front paper support tray does not have a sensor so it is possible to inadvertently start printing with it closed up - a silly design fault.
Pros:
Print quality
Scanner / copier
PC interface
Cons:
Ink usage
Not being able to use thin card.

I''''m fuming about this machine. Had used Epson before and they were pretty good so (like a mug) went and bought 2 of them - one for me and one for my folks.
Boy do I feel like a fool. NOTHING but trouble with both machines. Noisy, unreliable and to top it all just stop printing out the colours. You check your Epson ink levels - they say ok. You run their Clean Print Head utilities etc., (and waste a bit more of your time) then decide - better just change the (expensive) cartridges just in case - although I neither machine was heavily used. You do this and = same problem. By now (if you''''re like me) you''''re just about ready to chuck the machine in the bin - which is exactly what I have done with both of them.
From what I''''ve seen on the web I''''m not the only one who''''s had this - serves me right I suppose for buying the Epson brand and thinking I''''d be ok and not checking reviews first. Hence my contribution here - hopefully it''''ll save someone else making the same mistake!
Pros:
Scanner was good.
Cons:
Printing. Reliability. Print utility software.
I recently bought the dx6050 and found the printing quality very good - BUT, I have also noticed how the ink wastes away. I have done very little printing with it and have noticed how quickly the ink is being used. I dont know if the cartridges supplied with the machine are sample packs. Also When I was searching for compatable cartiridges,I was informed that the dx6050 will not take compatable cartridges if bought after the end of April, 2007. So it is very expensive to purchase originals for this model
